Hello,
I have just noticed a single white spot on my yellow tangs left fin. I do not see any other spots on the tang. It is more noticeable in the blue lights vs the whites but I have added pictures of the fish in both. The spot is about the size of a grain of salt. I have had this fish for about 2 years since it was a very small little baby tang. It’s tank mates are 2 clowns that have been in there with him since his addition. Also there is a cleaner shrimp that has been there for about 1.5 years. The last 2 tank mates are newer additions a diamond goby and urchin that I have had for about 4-5 months. I add corals to the tank regularly but all get dipped and sit in qt tank for at least a month most qt for around 2 months or longer. All corals get dipped again when moving to the display. I am very careful with what goes into the display.
Recently changes to tank-
2 weeks ago I re scaped the tank
Added an algae scrubber about a month ago
Started using carbon 30-45 days ago
Tank levels are ideal right now have not been the case over the years but finally dialed in
Lighting schedule changed recently to higher intensity
Rodi water only
Low nitrates
Low phosphates
Yellow tang has always been an aggressive eater and still is. He picks around at glass and rocks all day long. Noticed no change in this.
Need help identifying and coming up with an action plan on how to treat if this is something that needs treatment. My yellow tang is my first ever tang. I have a purple tang in a different display but this is a real pet of mine and our family loves this fish. Please assist me in identifying all the potential options and if this is bad news or not. Thanks to everyone who can help.
