Hey everyone - I am setting up a new tank [haven't had a tank in a while].

Fluval EVO 13.5 with a Hamilton 150w MH light

I currently have an InTank chamber 1 basket with filter floss on top, followed by Chemipure Blue. Chamber two is currently filled with MarinePure spheres. Heater and return pump in Chamber 3

The goal here is a SPS dominated tank with some LPS and a few softies mixed in with heavy feeding [coral foods, aminos, mysis/flakes for fish]. Utilizing Kalk [and eventually moving to 2part dosing as demand requires]

What I'm looking for some feedback on is:

1) Utilize the bottom section of the InTank basket to grow Chaeto with a 3M taped LED light on the back of the tank

2) Remove some MarinePure spheres in chamber 2, and add a chaeto reactor pump - with nothing on chamber 1 bottom section

3) Remove MarinePure spheres [or move some to chamber 1 bottom] and use chamber 2 for Chaeto/refugium

4) Remove MarinePure spheres, and replace with Chamber 2 skimmer
a. Grow Chaeto in chamber 1 bottom section
b. Fill chamber 1 bottom section with Marinepure spheres

The plan is for weekly 1 gallon water changes in addition to any export plan.

Thank you!

I'd go with the skimmer for sure. Then put chaeto into the biggest available section.

And fwiw I have heard of multiple people having issues with marinepure blocks and spheres leeching aluminium into the water...
