I have a 50 gallon long tank that I will in the long run be trying to hook up to a sump. The problem is my tank is on an entertainment stand and there is no room under it.

a) can I run a sump in a cabinet next to it? As long as it lower then the tank?

B) I found a decent deal on a Euro-Reef cs80 skimmer. Since it’s not HOB could I even run this before I set up the complicated sump system?

thanks in advance

Yes you can run the sump next to, away from or even over the existing tank. Just a matter of drain lines, pumps and plumbing.

As for the skimmer, looks like it needs a sump to operate in.

So I got a HOB skimmer from my lfs. I think the pump on it doesn’t have enough power though. I see some bubbles but not many. It’s only been on for a for a few min though.
