I have wanted a big tank my for so long! My wife finally agreed to let me get a 140 gallon tank. This is going to be a bare bottom, high flow, SPS dominant tank.

I have the following:
-started with dry rock
-bare bottom
-qty 4 of VorTech MP40 Ecotech Marine power heads
-qty 2 of Radion XR30w Pro Gen 4 Ecotech
-qty 2 of Vectra M2 Ecotech return pumps
-Trigger Triton34V2 Sump
-I will be adding Neptune Apex Controller
My wife asked if I was more excited about the fish and corals or the equipment. The answer is both! I am an engineer and I totally geek out on equipment!

That's awesome man. I'm a total parts geek too. Love how i can control lights, powerheads and system flow tight from my phone. I'm also a bit of a DIYer and love making little things that make our lives easier.
What kind of skimmer/ reactors are you going to be using?
That tank is gorgeous btw what kind is it and dimensions?

WOOT! Congratulations man and welcome!

Real nice start, love the tank.

So satisfying to reach a personal/goal dream!

Love the T shirt!

Following!

On a side note, those vectras won't connect to apex for flow control. Apex can turn them on and off, but the wireless controller won't connect to apex. I didn't know when I purchased mine. Still a great pump.

Sweet! Personally I'd at least throw some good live rock in. The stuff from the Keys would be my first pick. Put some just in the sump if worried about mantis etc.
Where are you in TX?

I didn’t know that when I bought either. When these finally give out, I may look at replacing with the Neptune return pumps. So far they are doing great. I just have the control mounted so I can easily get to them

Thank you so much
Tank is from Planet Aquarium: 48.5”x24.5”x29.5” with crystal glass.
Skimmer is Nyos Quantum 220
No reactors yet, because my wife says that I already spent too much money
My light bracket are DYI so that they can attach to the canopy

Ah, the financial police. Keeps reefers in line. I'm single and have no authority and less money. Darn dog keeps telling me to buy more, more, more. I keep trying to tell her we have to much stuff and not enough time.

I’ve think our wives might be sisters?

If you ever develop a good engineering controller for your bride I know there are a few of us on here who would become geeky disciples of that technology.

Sincerely hoping you succeed with this new build. :)

Godspeed!
