Few tips, on most lobos they will want low light and low flow. Maybe try to find a place low down partial shade for a bit. The war coral will also want low light and flow. Maybe try to find a rock to make a shaded section and put the war coral under that.
All the corals will thrive under phyto and zoo plankton feeding. Good luck. Looks really good so far!

Hello everyone. My name is Alex and I’m new to the reefing world. I’ve been keeping cichlids for 10+ years but 6 months ago I walked in to a legit fish store (Fish Freaks in Omaha, Ne) and everything changed.. I knew it was only a matter of time and in January I started my SW/reefing journey.

A few months later and some things are going great, some things not so great. I’ve been lurking these forums since starting but know I need to start asking questions if I want to make any real progress.

I look forward to learning from you guys! I’ll be in the beginner threads! Lol

Hi Alex and Welcome! Glad you joined. 'start where you are, use what you have, do what you can' - Arthur Ashe, tennis player Everyone here was new once too so no worries - this is such a great site for learning!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

So here’s the current setup. 20 gallon long.

-Fluval marine 3.0
-HOB filter with chemipure elite
-Hygger wavemaker and a small powerhead

Livestock includes a pair or clowns, flameback angel (going to have to upgrade my tank I know), Lawnmower blenny, YWG and candy pistol shrimp pair, a cleaner shrimp and some snails and hermit crabs as clean up crew.

Corals so far..

Zoas- Thriving with new polyps forming

Kenyi tree- Growing fast

Xenia- Growing fast but it doesn’t look that great. I think it’s a flow issue.

GSP- Doing fine.

Torch- Surviving. One of the heads is lighter in color than the other. I think it might be getting too much light.

War coral- Surviving. Also think it might be getting too much light

Lobo- Got it at in discount because it had a lot of receding. The shop said it was due to an alkalinity swing. Anyway I can’t say it’s improved or got any worse. We’ll get it figured out.

Pictures don’t do it justice but here we go!

Thanks for sharing photos!

Our 'secret' for thriving lobo is feeding 2-3 pellets after dark/lights out. Do it at least couple times a week. I'll cross my fingers for you!
