This is my first tank... looking for tips and a few questions. I don't have a sump or skimmers or any of that fancy stuff. Are they mandatory? Also since i have fish and coral what do i need to test? Can i add an anenome for clownfish?

alkalinity, phosphate, calcium, nitrate, ph, salinity, and magnesium are the main things people test for in reef tanks. As for the anemone, I would wait a little longer, or at least until you know some more of your tanks parameters. Sumps and skimmers are not mandatory, but they do make a difference to water quality in your tank. what size tank is this? and what other equipment are you running?

Ok i test most of that except phosphate i think. And i will definitely wait on the anemone. Its 20g tank and only equipment is a pump with filter n sponge that came with the tank, a heater, and AI32 light

may I ask what your parameters were? Everything else is looking great! Also you might want to get a screen top if you haven't already to keep the fish from jumping out. clownfish can jump.
