I was in Anchorage a few days for business and had time to visit Alaska Coral and Fish.

When I said I thought it was strange to have a reef store in Alaska, I was told "It's winter 8 months out of the year. . .what else are we going to do?"

This makes perfect sense if you think about the fact that the peak season for aquatics sales is winter when you're not outside doing other recreational activities.

72 degrees and humid felt great to a Florida/Texas guy in AK, even for just an hour. Felt like I was home except for the lack of a disinterested wife waiting outside in the car! 20200219_180230.jpg 20200219_182830.jpg 20200219_182947.jpg 20200221_045558.jpg 20200221_045825.jpg 20200221_045841.jpg 20200221_045341.jpg 20200221_045404.jpg 20200221_045741.jpg 20200221_045915.jpg 20200221_045930.jpg 20200221_045950.jpg 20200221_050009.jpg 20200221_050219.jpg 20200221_050123.jpg 20200221_050137.jpg 20200221_050328.jpg 20200221_050259.jpg 20200221_050108.jpg 20200221_050029.jpg 20200219_182836.jpg

Wow! No LFS like that in my area either! Who woulda thunk it?! Glad you shared this! If I ever get back to Anchorage, I'm going to check it out!

A lot of the colonies in the larger main display - acros, chalices, the trachyphyllia - were all huge. I was told some of the livestock in the tank was 14 years old. The tank had survived the large earthquake they had over there a few years back even though the rock shifted and rearranged itself.
