Getting ready to setup my very first Sotching Oxydator. In the back of my mind I'm worried about a malfunction where H2O2 would leak into the water column.

I have an Apex that monitors pH. My pH is pretty solid around 7.9 to 8.0

QUESTION
* would pH be the FIRST thing to alert me if there was a H2O2 leak?
*do I need a different Apex monitoring device to watch for a leak?

@zoa what - good thing you are a patient man!

You can’t monitor for the H2O2 in you aquarium with the apex.

That’s the beauty of the Oxydator - it can’t accidentally leak out. Just follow the directions. Ensure the Orange cap is on properly and in the locked position. Start with a diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide- you will fine. Now just give it a chance to work…

Yes

But I'm a screw up. I'll just triple check my wrong decisions

If it leaks its not a big deal

estimated number of posts available to see peroxide dosed into a reef tank as of 2021 = fifty thousand examples of things being ok, invasions fixed

a lysmata shrimp is the only animal that wouldn’t survive

if it leaks then you just dosed peroxide and if it works youre oxydating

I wouldn’t think any meter could alert you to a leak. You’ll come home to no algae lol that’ll be the sign

I just got the A to replace my D and it's pretty much idiot proof. If anything start with more diluted H202 around 3% and work your way up. I don't have any palys or zoas anymore, but I do remember them acting a little ticked the first time I set mine up.

Stop worrying, if you want something to worry about try a power outage or the possibility of a leak both of which are much more likely.
BTW Oxydators have no direct affect on PH. Move along now nothing to see here.

Just as well then or people would be spouting nonse as we have seen before. Please don't buy an Oxydator it would be a shame if you changed your thoughts about them best not hey.

Having this problem now. Had the oxydator in before and pulled it out when I ran out of hydrogen peroxide and forgot it. Put it back in recently to handle some dinos and my zoas are only partially open. Do they get used to it eventually? I’m at 6% with one catalyst.
