For the last couple days my sohal has been swimming/spinning rapidly it's freaky to watch. He breathes rapidly after that. He is eating fine. Parameters are in check.

Tank 300dd

Other fish
2 clowns
2 mandarins
1 pbt
1 sailfin tang
3 Bartlett anthias
1 flame angel

I checked for stray voltage and it's shows 5-10 volts
Any thoughts?

I have a powder brown that does, loop de loops./ summersaults./ goes mach 1 around the tank, then stops to pick at the rocks. They do act weird if your tank is to small. but not in your case.I don't know about the volts???. Mines been doing this for years.

My other tangs never did this but I have read other posts saying its just a tang being a tang.

The spinning seemed so violent like he was being sucked down the drain. When he stops its like nothing happened and like yours goes back to picking at rocks.

What size is the Sohal?
If approaching 6" or so it may be a display of dominance.

No big deal unless the display turns to aggression.
In a system that size I doubt that will be an issue so long as the PBT does not take exception.

He wants to be in the ocean instead of a box. Tangs have immense territory range. I don't want to be a downer, but he is just stir crazy.

How big is Sohal? They can snap overnight. When I say snap, I mean they will kill all other tangs for no reason. PBT is not a match for that fish.

300DD is not a large enough tank for a large sohal.

Just my 2 cents.

He is about 4-4.5"

Pbt is 6"

Sailfin is 4.5" - he is actually the more aggresive fish in the tank other than my female occ. clown :)

Sohal's are on the top of my list. As far as the behavior, doesn't surprise me one bit, they love to swim. As long as he's not hurting himself or others, I wouldn't worry about it.
