I've been there the past two weekends. Absolutely no gimmicks with their photos. Dr. Mac personally showed me the camera he uses and how he takes the photos. I was really surprised when I saw the camera. I really expected a high dollar camera but it definitely wasn't. I've been buying corals here for a little while and I've always received healthy corals. I highly suggest you go check it out if you can. This is one of the top notch coral stores in the country.

I myself have bought from Dr. mac many times and never been disappointed. I've also questioned there photos before too. I think the color seems off when first looking at the picture because it doesn't have the traditional blue hue. It looks more like tie pic was taken un white lights and the the color added back it (which is a good way to do it in my good and how to get a more accurate color representation.) It just looks different then we're used to. However, whether it's on purpose or not, the contrast and sharpening do seem aggressive.

For example, look at the ridges on the tentacles of the plate.

Or the bumps and knobs in the scoly and the dramatic, well defined lines in the yellow streaks:

Those kind of details aren't typically seen with the eye on the corals but are brought out by sharpening the image. But, like I said, I've never been disappointed with an order and we've all seen MUCH worse photo shopping. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Their stuff is good and they do it the right way!
