This may not look living but believe me it is as I see these growing under my dying acan and I just found this one in the sump of the tank. It was attached using that fin looking thing on the bottom right and I am assuming it might be some kind if tunicate? Not sure if they are harmful so anyone know what this is?

Sounds very exotic and are they harmful to anything?
No they are pretty common, usually because the tank has some excess silicates, have you added MarinePure or something recently? They are generally harmless and will go away eventually. Although if they are close to the flesh of any coral I remove them.

It’s most likely a pineapple sponge (VERY crucial to a tank IMO). I have a bunch in my 4’ display and a giant nice colony in its sump, I find they loose colour when out of light but in the light they tend to be more yellow. If you get any fish that likes to eat sponges I find it’s best to get a nice colony growing in the sump and then let it colonise in the DT for a bit - Mines going two years and the DT is filled with sponges… I’m starting to want an angelfish.
