Hi Allan, Firstly, thank you for all of your sharing your knowledge. I have been using V1 and V2 version of your concoction since 19th July 24 and these are my observations so far.
  • Polyp extension on most sps corals
  • Growth and dosing of major elements increased significantly
  • Colour on some of the SPS is duller. Even on some of the same colonies/frags. This could be due to elevated P04?
  • Health of SPS - I now have confidence that an SPS has some resilience. Before using the concoction it felt as though if you looked the wrong way at an sps, it would die. I've had a few of instances where corals have fallen, broken or been stung and the corals have recovered each time. In fact I have not lost any corals since I started the concoction.
  • LPS look so much better. My Duncans were permanently closed and now multiplying and puffy. Before I really struggled to keep acans. No longer the case all of them are puffy and healthy without any direct feeding.
  • The tank seems very clean. No nuisance algae's. Pumps need cleaning less frequently and do not get any dirty algae growth other than coraline.
  • Glass is cleaned less frequently. Twice a week now.
  • Skimate is black.
  • I feed a bit heavier than previously because I added two new fish.
My nutrient parameters when I started were N03 -15.7 (dosing nitrate to keep this up) and P04 - 0.09. I have let the system loose and tried not to panic about them. My N03 peaked at 21 and is now back to 15, so no problem there. My P04 was initially stayed around 0.1, but then increased up to 0.3. I then adjusted the quantity of amino acids and foods I was adding to the concoction and it has since fallen back to 0.14. I would not normally be concerned, but for some of the sps being pale. I've tried adding Tropic marin Phos-start and Aqua Forest Pro Bio F to the concoction to encourage phosphate reducing bacteria. Doesn't seem to have worked as I'm stuck at 0.14. My expectation was that the baceria's would proliferate, eat N03 and P04, then be either eaten by the sps or removed via protein skimming and the result being I would have to feed the tank more to keep N03 and P04 in the system. I may try a different carbon source such as TM Elimi NP to encourage P04 removal. Any thoughts?

@coral reeftank Wondering what you are using for your frag tiles? Looking to add 3 egg crate layers to my reef and moving all the corals on to them since I’m out of space! Trying to figure out what people are using hopefully w/o having to pay +$2/tile for Ocean Wonder tiles.

Thanks,
-Chris

Just noticed you were curious about GNC lighting. I love them. Not much experience with other higher end lighting. But these are sleek. And just getting into Acros. And so far they are doing great under two over my 47.3 L W23.6 H 19.7 tank. They do not use fans either. So Silent!

I notice someone mentioned a "concoction". Is it mentioned somewhere in this thread? If so which page number? I would like to read up on it. I have a Dendro that I think could benefit from it.

Thanks,
Shelley

I’m pretty unit there’s been a viable substitute for the Zeozyme. It’s an expensive and sparse product. So far I’ve progressed without it but can’t help but think it would make a difference?

wow, started reading from page 75 and felt out of my league quickly. I am currently mimicking SunnyX husbandry on a new tank. Only 100 gallons. Will be ordering the flatworm stop tomorrow. No fish in my tank as of yet. Most are in nursery tanks, babies from biota. I think I overdosed the carbon source at first. Been cutting back slowly. Added a Dendro I have had on the brink of death for over 10 years and it immediately improved. Thanks for all your information. And beautiful acro photos. I can't have many so I want some really bright ones. You are helping me choose.

My first acro is a wooly mammoth. Love the fuzzy look. I am determined not to kill it. Will be ordering the concoction also.

thanks

@coral reeftank I am a little confused about your concoction. Could you outline your formula and how much of each you mix together now. Please don't abbreviate the names of the products you use. Thank you in advance
