Something growing on the side of acan

I tried searching before posting. I’ve noticed this black and white thing on the side of my scans for a couple weeks now and not sure what it is?? It’s really cool looking and managed to get a video of it opening up.

its a barnacle, commonly seen on wild hammers and torches
