SCIENTIFIC NAME - Gymnothorax moringa

COMMON NAME - Spotted Moray

SIZE - 4 ft. (1.2 m)

MIN. AQUARIUM SIZE - 55 US Gal. (208 L)

FOODS AND FEEDING - Varied marine meaty foods, fresh or frozen fish, crustacean flesh, scallops, crab, squid

REEF COMPATIBILITY - will eat ornamental crustaceans and small fishes, may topple corals and rock not secured in place

CAPTIVE CARE - Tends to be more active once the lighting is dimmed and once acclimated may come out more during the day. Does well in captivity with a voracious appetite and if housed with larger fish, it may take bites out of the fish it cannot get into its mouth whole, especially at feeding time if the fish get too close. As with all eels, keep a tight lid on the tank with not escape holes. Keep only one per tank. The min. sized tank given is for a specimen tank only. Plenty of hiding places and a mature reef are a plus for long term success, feed with a feeding stick and do not get your hands too close to the eel.
