Well, this is the first post of my new build. I wanted to get it started right from the beginning so I can stay up to do date as best as possible.

Not a lot of fun things going on yet. Just cleaned out the basement area where the sump is going and added a couple things to accommodate. I placed a sturdy cover over my basement sump pit so I don’t fall in and a laundry wash basin so I have a good spot to clean and wash up.

I will post some pics to cover all the before shots.

Here is the open shot of my basement room that will be doubling as my “fish” room.

The right right corner is where my RODI system will be going along with two separate tanks, one for fresh RODI water and one for mixing salt water.

My sump will be in the middle of the room running towards the sink.

As a newbie to this hobby and also starting a very large reef, I have started looking in aquarium management systems. (Apex or Ekoral so far). I’m sure there are several threads covering this topic. I’m asking if someone can point me in the right direction. I’m a buy once cry once guy. So I want to buy everything I may need right from the get go.

A brand and list of everything I may need would be very much appreciated.

Well I organized my “sump” room and I am ready to start working on my water making/salt water mixing station. Picked up two 55 gallon containers and my RODI system came in from BRA.

Here’s where the mixing station will be located. I’m building a deck and a shelf to stack these barrels.

So, as the title states, I am starting up several tanks. I have small construction team coming tomorrow to built the platforms for what RODI/salt water mixing station. I pretty excited for this. I will went ahead I got all the plumbing started for the RODI system and now I have to wait until the crew finishes the shelving.

I also have been wanting to startup a small clown/ anemone tank. so I went to the LFS and the had a 15 AIO cube for sale. I bought it. its pretty awesome. My dad has been a reefer for over 30 years and he currently ahs a very nice 125 gallon tank setup.

My plan with the AIO cube is fill the tank with live rock and water from his tank as soon as I get the time. I am also use large media pellets in the filter area of the cube. I put the media in his sump and I am going to leave it in there until I start everything up. It should be a very turn key operation for this first tank. My plan for this tank is to do a simple clown/anemone tank with some corals. nothing to crazy due to the fact that I am not planning to go crazy buying accessories for this thing.

equipment: 15 gallon AIO cube, AI Prime light with flex arm bracket, mp10 pump,

live stock; 10 pounds live rock from a running reef, 15 gallons of water directly from his tank, 2 unique clowns, shrimp, 2 crabs,...…

I think that's about it for now. I will post picks as I move through things.

God Bless you all and thank you for the opportunity to hangout here.

I just remembered something too. I ordered a Pan-World 100x pump for my mixing station and 8 ball valves for Bulk Reef Supply. It will all be here by the end of the week. The plan is to spend next Saturday organizing and plumbing the Saltwater mixing station.

God Bless

Here’s my rough vision

Perfect! :D

That's a nice looking space for building this system out. I'm sorry if I missed it, but what's the display tank going to be, and where are you setting it up? Will this be a basement sump room with a DT on another floor build?

Yes, I will be putting my custom sump in the basement. Its made out of a 72"x18"x22" glass aquarium and I am putting in glass baffles. on top of the sump I am putting a large shallow frag tank. 72x36x12 deep. this is just going to be a giant coral setup with a few nice fish.

My display tank is going to be on the first floor in my living room. I am in the process of ordering it now. 72"x36"x24" tall all glass. I want thei to be just an awesome reef. Hopefully a rare tang, lots of hard corals, and a great assortment of colorful fish for my children to watch.

So, my construction crew has been super busy and being that they give me good deals I get put on the back burner if something important pops up..... well this keeps happening everyday. But he promised me he would get it done tomorrow. We shall see.

I used a sharpie and explained exactly what I’m looking for. I also explained this to him in person. I’m very particular, and he knows that. This is going to be awesome.

I made a trip to Menards today as well and picked up all my material for plumbing the saltwater mixing station. I bought extra so I wouldn’t have any unplanned trips back to the store. Hoping to return about half of this stuff.

Spent a little extra on the schedule 80 pipe and fittings only for looks to be honest. I realize the ID size is a little smaller but for this application it will be just fine.

Ball valves and pan world 100x pump will be here tomorrow.

So of course, I thought I had everything.... had to run to Menards to get an adapter so I could hook into the pump.

And then I decided to stay up way too late and finish the plumbing. Boy did it turn out nice. I have been making sketches over the past few days and I think it paid off.
