Everywhere I look, I see opportunities for entrepreneurship in the aquarium industry.

If you are able to solve a problem for a person or business, you can be an entrepreneur.

I was walking through an office supply store recently and saw a dozen or more items that could be immediately repackaged and sold as reefing products.

Walk down the aisles of an IKEA or a Container Store and you'll probably come up with 20 space-saving ideas that are applicable to aquariums.

You don't have to sell products. You can sell services, too.

Offer paid digital courses to share your knowledge. If you do aquarium maintenance, you could add an online consulting service to coach clients and "be there with them" to help them through more difficult tasks until they become more confident and self-sufficient.

If you see a business or a product that you think you can help improve, email the company and give them your pitch. You'd be surprised how responsive they are.

What existing product designs or services do you see in everyday life that could help hobbyists or businesses succeed?

If you think it is appropriate, you are welcome to move my post to that thread (if that is possible) as it does lend itself to that topic and article you posted.

For anyone else who may be seeing this, here is the @Jay Hemdal article:

And here is the discussion thread:

I apologize for not replying sooner. I read your reply and article days ago and was happy to see your response. I had hoped my post might encourage others to share some of their ideas, however goofy they may be, because you never know who may see it, like it, and make your dream come true!

I imagined that snazzy toilet plunger base as a holder for an algae scraper if anyone was wondering since I didn't provide context for the photos. I use my algae magnet often, but my scraper only comes out during water changes. I thought if I could drop that thing into a base that prevents water from dripping on my floor, I'd be more apt to use the darn thing!

@Jay Hemdal I enjoyed your article on aquarium careers, too.

I would definitely suggest extracting the text from those articles in PDF form and putting the actual copy on the website because, as others indicated, it was tough to find and read on mobile.

Happy Reefing!

Hey there! I totally agree with you about the potential in the aquarium industry for entrepreneurship. It's such a cool idea to think about repackaging office supplies as reefing products - talk about thinking outside the box! And those space-saving ideas from IKEA and Container Store? Genius! Selling services like digital courses and online consulting is a great way to share your knowledge and help others. By the way, if you want to register US company, I know the guys who can help you. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

Good post! I agree there are tons of opportunities for entrepreneurship in the hobby. I think mostly of services for things people need to do but hate to do or lack the skills to do well. Planning out equipment placement, creative aquascaping, etc.
