I've been reading a lot on this site for about a month now and find it very helpful. I am currently doing a remodel on my house and want to have a fish tank as pretty much the center piece of the home. I had a saltwater reef tank 10 years ago in a 37g bowfront. Its been tucked away in my garage because my intent was to always start this thing back up again, whats been stopping me is the time and money it takes. After 10 years i am finally ready to get it going again except i realized something, I now want a brand new one.

I have my heart set on a 150g SCA aquarium. Was originally going to go with the full pnp system, but realized i wanted something customizable that will look amazing. I have an uncle that is a carpenter that specializes in luxury cabinets. I will have him to help me make the stand. I really had my hear set on that internal overflow system because it can go flush with the wall and look great. But what i am hearing is getting the ghost external overflow on the back is the way to go. I don't want to have any regrets a year or 2 from now. So it looks like i will be putting this thing together from scratch and using this site for a good chunk of my research. Appreciate everyone's input on this forum and hopefully i will be able to provide some input on my build as it goes. Very excited on this project.
Thanks for the welcoming. Here are some updates, been taking me a little longer than expected. Went with SCA 150g, and a Bashsea smart series sump. What took me so long to get set up was the stand that is finally ready to go, there was a couple things I was disapointed with but will have to deal with them

For 1 there wasn't quite enough clearance in the back for my overflow, i found a workaround though, but still a bit disappointed because its going to be inconvenient. The second thing is he didn't measure for my yoga matt to place under the aquarium, it wont even allow for the foam that came with the SCA aquarium, so it will be bare underneath. Is this going to be a major issue do you think?

Working now on the plumbing, its being shipped next week. Any advice here on how many valves i should purchase and where to place them?

Thanks again guys, posting a new update and this time i have a question i would like some advice on. I have been struggling a little on something that i havent been able to find too much info on.

what are some recommendations for lighting. The issue i have is currently something i didnt foresee was the size of my canopy should have been bigger and it doesnt have ventilation. I am going to have to create some ventilation but what should i do for lighting when my canopy is only 7 inches above the water or 7 inches above the rim of the tank i should say.

I know this isnt ideal but im going to have to work with this, i was thinking LED due to the fact that im in a canopy and need venting.

i was looking at the reefbreeder proton because it is only 1 inch thick and one long piece which i thought might give me good coverage since im limited in space. But i was also looking at 3 radion x15 blue because they seemed like good lights and can be used a little closer to the water.

really though i am a newbie and need some advice cuz i dont really know much.

your help would be appreciated, this is pretty much my last purchase before im up and going
