Due to a series of unfortunate events I have to re-do my entire tank. My rocks are covered in algae. I have placed them all in a brute trash can with saltwater, two power heads and a heater. I'm prepared to leave them in there as long as it takes to get them cleaned up. What else do I need to do besides frequent water changes?

Take out and scub them with a stiff brush, that won’t harm the bacteria.
If you want them really clean you can add add bleach etc by you would have to start the cycle again.

Thank you. I just put them in the bin yesterday. I think on Saturday I will do a water change and will give them a good scrub. I don't want to bleach them because I want to attempt to save the coraline and some of the little critters in the rocks. But I will if I don't see improvement after a few weeks.

since your rocks are already in a different tub, have you thought of vibrant? It kills green hair algae and should not bother the coraline and definately doesnt bother critters.
