One level teaspoon of kalk added to a 100-gallon aquarium will raise its pH by about 0.3 pH units.

The specifics for your tank will vary based on how you are dosing, how much you are dosing, how big your tank is, etc. For example, if you are adding kalk through your ATO the amount will vary based on your evaporation rate as well.

From everything I understand about kalkwasser, it is calcium hydroxide. The calcium goes straight into the water, whereas the hydroxide ions combine with the co2 ions to form carbonate and bicarbonate alkalinity. This can be a very effective method to maintain levels of calcium and alkalinity as well as maintain a higher level of ph by removing carbon dioxide from the water, buy not a safe method if your trying to raise the elements to a desired level from a much lower level. Dosing in small amounts continually is probably the best way to do this like in an ato system or slow drip dosing system. Too much too fast could be a disaster for your tank
