To Apex or not to Apex...that is the question...
Lol

Hi everyone, hope you’re having a good week! The tank is still cycling...it seems to be taking forever but I’m being super careful and taking it slow to ensure that my finned babies will have a solid cycle for the big move.

I’m starting to consider adding an automated monitoring system like the Apex or GHL. There are so many mixed reviews on these it’s made me hesitant to spend the money or put my trust in it. If anyone reading this uses automated monitoring I’d love to hear your experiences with it. Was it worth the money? Any regrets or recommendations?

Interested to hear replies, I have been thinking about monitoring as well.

Howdy fellow reefers!

I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe.

It’s been a very busy few weeks with the build but I’m super excited about how it’s coming together. I’ve been running a fishless cycle since February and finally got the parameters where I wanted them to begin moving livestock and lps corals.

Christmas came early this year...hubby surprised me with the Apex and Trident!!!! I still have a TON of learning but am so grateful to have a tool like this to help me keep the tank on track.

I had to rearrange some things inside the stand and ended up building a slide out shelf for the ATO reservoir using heavy duty bottom mount door slides. This should make refilling it a breeze...provided it doesn’t get salt creep too bad. I also installed a vent fan inside the stand and routed a duct to the outside of the house to help cut down humidity. The control cabinet is still a work in progress (UGHHHHH CORDS!) Even though everything is labeled and cords are wrapped it still looks rough. Oh well...there’s always tomorrow to get better organized. Lol

Looks awesome!
Since you ran a vent pipe you may consider running tubing through it to attach to your skimmer and get oxygen rich air to maintain stable PH

What a beautiful centerpiece of a tank you have there!

I moved about half of my kiddos and a good portion of my LPS corals over the past week. So far everyone is getting along except my foxface has decided that he hates the little powder blue. Nothing scary has happened, he just chases him when he’s nearby. The real drama will be next week when I move the official tang gang over (4 yellow and one purple). I have a bunch of mirrors for the tank and extra nori clips. Hopefully with all the hiding places and nori hung everywhere they won’t be too bad...hopefully...

Tang gang is in the house! Woot!
So far the drama hasn’t been too bad...I have six nori clips spread around and everyone has a full belly. Everyone is hanging out together on the same side of the tank but I’m hoping as they settle in they will give each other some space. Fingers crossed! Lol

So far so good with the tang gang. The drama hasn’t been too bad, everyone is eating like pigs and they really love the extra swimming room.

Yesterday I broke down all of my quarantine tanks except for one. It’s so nice to not have fish tanks all over the house... I can actually use my dining room again! Haha

On a side note, I’ve been trying to decide on a large magnet cleaner and keep procrastinating because I just don’t want to spend the money on something that probably costs $5 to manufacture. The glass got dirty and I decided to try the magnet that’s currently in my 90 gallon, not thinking it would do a great job or anything. WRONG! This little $35 Hygger (medium size) magnet performed flawlessly! If anyone is shopping for a magnet cleaner, this one is awesome and about half the price of the Flipper.

Ok, no more sales pitches...here’s more pictures of my babies. Have a great week, everyone!

Howdy! I just wanted to post a quick update. I’ve finally gotten all of my acros and montis moved to the big tank. A couple of acros look stressed but most are open and looking happy. We just added our last fish and are now at full capacity. We found a really great deal on this little sweetheart and couldn’t pass it up. He’s adjusting well and the rest of the tang gang is peaceful with him. Say hello to Dot!

@fishguy242 you are closer, pop 'round and sneak that into the pocket bag of the big coat, how warm can it be there, send it as a sample, it will be fine! ;)
Dot is a pretty girl... ;Happy

I hope he/she is a girl, the name would fit better. Lol This fish is a sweetheart so far also...very outgoing and curious but she’s peaceful with everyone despite my little powder blue displaying in her face. She’s way bigger than the powder blue but he thinks he’s in charge. Hahaha Luckily it’s just displaying and only happens here and there. I feed twice a day (probably overdoing it lol) so they really don’t compete much.

The kids are doing well! My baby Naso is getting some of his adult markings. There’s been some drama with the purple and one of the yellows as you can see. His fins are healing well and I’ve added a few more nori clips to help cut out the competition.

I had to remove my black naso after it tapped my mag fox face and I think it caused the damage to my baby convict that caused it's eventual demise, both tapped exactly on or by the mouth.
Lipstick should be on the way looking at the tail colour. :)

Oh no! I’m so sorry about that, it always breaks my heart losing fish.
