Vendors from around the country come to sell coral (much of which are the amazing brightly colored corals that you see online).

It is also a great way to meet old friends and make new friends that are in the hobby.

You will find the hottest Zoanthids, Acros, Acans, Chalices, Mushrooms, etc. all at great prices!

A Few Frag Swap Tips for Both Newbies and Veterans

1. Don't Forget Cash. Some Vendors will Take Credit Cards, but Others are Cash Only.

2. Bring a Portable Cooler - to Store the Corals that you Bought In and to Keep them at the Right Temperature.

3. Doors Open at 12:00 Noon and the Show Ends at 4:00 PM

4. Admission is $5 and Kids 16 and Under are FREE. Having the Exact Amount Helps Things Go Smoother at the Entrance.

5. Please be Patient with Vendors. Please keep in mind time is short and the crowds are large, if a vendor does not have adequate time to answer all of your questions ask for a business card or web address follow up with them at a later date, they are all professional and have great experience with keeping salt water tanks thriving but time is limited. The chaos can be great at these shows. The vendors greatly appreciate your business.

I always bring a couple of these Small Coleman Coolers.

To Keep the Corals that I Buy at the Right Temperature.

But any Cooler will do.

Why is nobody commenting on this event... Are these frag swaps losing popularity because people realize the vendors coral is mostly purchased from the same wholesalers as the local fish stores instead of aquacultured?

The swaps & shows have had excellent crowds all year long and are as popular as ever. Most frag swaps will have way more variety, shapes, and sizes of corals available than most stores. Many vendors are traveling from all over the Midwest and country to display and sell.

Many people sell Aquacultured corals at swaps.

Most do it to some degree or another.

If a coral did come from a wholesaler it will be cheaper at a swap than at a store.

Most Corals at Shows are the Nice Collector Pieces anyways so you will not typically find them in stores anyways.

I have gotten Acros for $10 to $20 at Swaps that are $40 to $60 at Fish Stores.

Frag Swaps are Gaining in Popularity Actually.

Many have had record attendances in the last year.

Yes, it is worth it.

I buy all my Coral from Frag Swaps.

It is night and day what is offered at Frag Swaps vs. what is offered at Fish Stores.

The Day I went to my First Frag Swaps was also the Day I Stopped Going to Stores.

I had no idea that Corals existed like the ones I saw at My First Swap back in 2010.

It Blew My Mind.

If you are not Going to Frag Swaps You are Truely Missing Out and I feel bad for you !!!!!
