Current stock: 2 clarkii clowns 1 Hoevans wrasse 1 coral banded shrimp 1 spotted hawkfish 1 watchman goby
Filter: internal marine magnum polisher canister filter rated for 97GPH
150w heater 1 power head 2 clip on reef led lights ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5 ph 8.1
Flow is good only drama in the tank is the clowns chasing away the wrasse as he tried to scavenge on the rocks. Should I add more? Nothing too aggressive is happening and all is well.

For future stocking what can I add? Would a Tomini tang be a wrong choice? And would could be some other “center piece” fish I could add without too much aggression to my current stock.

Welcome to R2R chad!!!

What is the water volume of the tank? That will have a lot of impact on what livestock you can keep.

i think u need more rockwork with hiding spots for fish. it will help with clown aggression as well. fish need a place to rest n hide when stressed. as per the pic, clowns rule 3 out of 4 rock structures. if u add new fish they will have a hard time.

You might be able to get by for a while with a small tomini but it will outgrow the tank. I would look on live aquaria and find some fish you like. They have the minimum tank size as well as a chart that shows what fish are compatible with each other. Lots of good info there.

I would not, not, not add more clowns. I knew a guy who had two pairs of clowns in a 180 gallon tank and the biggest female decided that the whole tank was hers to defend and nearly constantly harassed the other pair.

At 40 gallons, you need to think small fish and fish that are different enough from clowns to not be noticed. Things that work could be blennies, gobies, dart fish, cardinals and so on.

If tank has only been running a month you are already past where you should be. 1 month in you should have 1 maybe 2 fish.

I would double the rocks you have and wait a couple months before another addition. Keep an eye on parameters and weekly water changes
