I have a couple stainless steel 500mL water bottles lying around and I was wondering if they'd be safe for storing RO/DI and saltwater? The tank is only 32g so I don't really need very large containers, just enough for the occasional top up and thawing frozen foods.

I try to use plastic. I have stainless steel tweezers (10”) and I wash and dry them every use and they are starting to tarnish.

I assume you're talking about saltwater, and RODI water is fine?

Did you get special containers or would say a plastic water bottle do the trick? I don't need to store a lot of water, just enough for tops and to replenish what I take out for water tests and feeding.

Use empty 1 gallon water jugs. Like you buy from the store to drink

I wouldn't use metal. Something plastic that is food grade is best.

Any small options in the 100-250mL range? With the hood on I barely go through a cup of water a week.

I assume plastic water/soda bottles are food grade?
Yes, but water only. I use small rubbermade containers.
