So I have had a tank thread on another forum for over 12 years but I moved my tank about a year ago and has to start all over. I thought it’s about time to start a thread on R2R and you can also follow my Instagram account on “StourysReef” if you would like. I really like this community and look forward to sharing with you some of my progress. I have four tanks consisting of:

Tank Measurements & Background
  • #1 – Main Display Tank – 220 Gallon Mixed Reef 72 x 24 x 30
  • #2 – Office Frag Tank – 90 Gallon Cube Tank 24 x 24 x 24 – This tank is plumbed with my main display
  • #3 –Display Refugium (w/Anemones) - 27 Gallons 20 x 18 x 20 – This tank sits below my main display tank and has a gravity feed into the sump emerald trigger sump. This tank is used as my Rainbow Anemone holding tank and some Cheeto.
  • #4 – Separate 90 Gallon Coral and Fish QT tank – 48 x 18 x 24 – This tank will be a separate QT tank with no medications used. I will hypo salinity new fish if I see any signs of diseases. I rarely put in new fish because I’m fine with the selection I currently have.

So I took out the Nems from my small display tank under the stand decided I needed to give it a make over. Post pics to come later this week! I know that the clam and hammer are definitely going on here. Let’s see what other color I decide to add.

Looking good! What system did the nems move to?

Thanks Alfie! I moved the sunbursts to my office frag tank and moved the rainbows to the 90 (separate system) to play it safe. Take a look below.

Who has a copperband that has wiped out all Aptasia and eating like a champ? My buddy Frank from WWC has always preached to me that I should always focus in on utilitarian live stock that have a specific purpose if you want to have a healthy SPS dominated tank. This guy definitely has an important role and I wouldn’t trade mine for the world. It’s definitely getting first class transportation treatment during my move later this year! Just as an FYI, I scored this little guy from the Reefshoppe (Thanks guys!) about 6 months ago. QT’ed him with hypo salinity for 4 weeks, no signs of parasites or any issues, was eating like a champ and here we are!!!! Photo credit goes to wifey who loves him too :)

Wow, it's been sometime since I provided a tank update but since June of last year, a lot has changed!!! I had my little princess Lara this past March, My wife and I moved back to New York and the 220 gallon tank you see above was upgraded to a 300 Gallon tank connected to a 60 frag/grow out system in my office. Here is a quick video but I promise to add a few pictures of the move and that whole awesome experience we all look forward to lol

Thank you for checking out my system.

Encase any of you were wondering why a lot of my corals do well in your tanks after you buy a frag pack. It's very simple, you get what you pay for!! The majority of my corals came from WWC frags that I bought over the years and some ol school reefers very well know on these forms!

With all the uncertainty around our hobby, let's all help each other figure out ways how to create stability in our tanks, understand water chemistry, flow and the proper par for these corals. This will only help folks ways to propagate these corals which can help our with some of the hobby expenses or be able to trade for some cool corals they don't have.

Have a great day everyone!
