Just beware that Tims ammonia (ammonium chloride I believe) will deplete alkalinity and is not intended for regular dosing so may not have the desired purity for ongoing use (don't know since there's no purity data provided on it that I have seen). I think food grade ammonium bicarbonate is a better best for most folks:

Thanks much appreciated I will be looking into the products on your post..no Tim's lol

Question? Is Ammonium Bicarbonate the better choice? If so what brand any Amazon link???

Bakers ammonia. Food grade. Brand doesn't matter. Folks are getting good results (in the thread) and it doesn't deplete alk.

Some folks find the solution starts to smell of ammonia after a while due to CO2 leaving it, so keep it closed.

After tons of dosing finally getting a reading. Just picked up the Ammonium Bicarbonate from Amazon..Will switch over starting next weekend. Also just watched the YouTube video with Sanjay & Paletta on the dosing but I'm still not 100% sure on the dosage/mixture..

I use neonitro and neophos in my macro cultures. Would recommend them. We carry them if you are interested. That size tank, PM me for pricing in larger portions.

I've been dosing ammonium bicarbonate for a few months now and it definitely increases the nitrate value. I mixed 20 grams to 1 liter of RODI and I add +/- 7ml a day to the sump of my 80 gallon system in the morning. I have never measured the ammonia level, and have not had any adverse effects with fish. It is not enough to maintain nitrate as high as I'd like it so I still add a pinch of sodium nitrate to the sump now and then.

For PO4 I use Loudwolf trisodium phosphate, 10mg to 1 liter of RODI, and I add 4-6 ml a day to maintain my PO4 at 0.05-0.1. Buying food grade products on Amazon is way cheaper than any of the premixed products by Brightwell or whatever, for $10 or so you'll have a year or more of a solution, the Loudwolf TSP may be a lifetime supply lol. 2 part is the same thing buy food grade and save a ton of money.

My 80g is a frag tank loaded with corals and 7 fish and it depletes NO3 and PO4 within a week or less if no dosing is done. I almost don't have to even test for nutrients as I can tell by the look of the corals (all sps) if the nutrient levels are adequate or not.

JamesPlantedTank on the web has an accurate dosing calculator that's handy for mixing/dosing, you can mix your solutions in different concentrations and it'll give you the correct dose if you want also. This was Randy's find, not mine.

I have a Black Tank, Purple Tang, 2 Gem Tangs, Hippo Tang, Yellow Tang, White Tail Tang, Sailfin Tang, clowns, wrasse...feed 12 cubes a day + Algae sheets lol..& I put silverside in the sump to deteriorate..still nothing!
Sorry, I have the opposite problem with phosphates, I feed minimal and can't get them down, even with dosed chemicals.

In a reactor & Phos go bye bye..without a doubt so fast that you have to be careful you don't remove it too fast..
