I have a brs 200 gpd unit but it cannot keep with my usage so i'm looking for something a bit larger but most of the units i can find are either house units which are not suitable for freshwater blackwater aquariums or missing important stages like di.

Unfortunately i'm in a negative situation right now (using more water out of my reservior than i'm putting in) so kind of looking for a quick solution.

Thanks,

Why not get another 200 or 300gpd system and run them both? You could also get another 100-200gpd standard membrane housing and membrane. Plumb it into your existing unit to add another RO output.

I put together my own. I use a 400gpd high flow membrane. https://wateranywhere.com/collectio...applied-membranes?_pos=1&_fid=490493f7d&_ss=c

Wateranywhere is great and has tons of options and parts.

Was looking, all the commerial setups i used to install, but the smallest is 1000gpd. You may be well served with a diy piece-meal version like @Shirak has.

We use this system at our own warehouse. Makes more than 500 gal per day at 75 PSI. We have many more options between 300-500 gal range if you are interested, [email protected]
Happy reefing
This looks interesting 'cept it has too many stages - i only need 1 di and 0 carbon stages though i could tolerate 1 carbon stage. All those extra stages add too much cost and my tap water is 120 tds.

I sent them an email will see what they say - also i kind of prefer not too much waste water. The best system i see is 1:1 and of course the worse is 1:4. Do you know your ratio ?
Hi Jake. I am on well water/septic system so the water comes out of the ground on one side of the house and back into the ground on the other lol. Our water is silty and is filtered down to 1micron at the main water line. It is also very hard 300-320ppm tds mostly calcium. Water pressure is set 50-70psi and the ground water is cold at 55 degrees F. I use an adjustable needle valve on the waste line which lets me set the waste water ratio however I want, but because of the silt still in the water after prefiltering to 1micron I use a 1:4 ratio so the membrane flushes almost constantly. Despite the pressure and temperature and ratio I get 2ppm tds output and 400+ gal/day.

The 4" membrane I linked is absolutely amazing. I think with your incoming tds and as long as it's particulate free you could easily set it for 1:1
Photo below. Flush valve with the blue handle, brass needle valve black knob on waste line

Yea long membrane are good. Hopefully they will get back to me. I kind of hope they can put a system together so i don't have to hammer each one into the wall - three glass jars and a frame to hole them with some tubing. I keep thinking i could just change the membrane in my 200 gpd unit with one rated for higher rate and that would fix the problem but not sure.

Just run 2 ro units. First drains into the 2nds input line. I run a 75gpd first they then drains into a 150gpd. My thinking is 3-1 or 4-1 rodi water to waste. So the 75gpd wastes 225gpd. This can feed the 150gpd. I make 30gallons in 3 hours this way

Sounds like that would kill the membrane fast in the 2nd filter as you are sending all the reject (tds) into it.

Also you would have to t the output of the two units before it goes into storage container.

Yes you do have to t the 2 lines together. It also will deplete the 2nd membrane very fast. This being said I'm at 56tds going in. So even the waste is better than most incoming water.

Could the problem be to simply replace the 100gpd membrane on the brs ro unit with 150 gpd membrane (there are two for the 200 gpd) ?

My input tds is around 130 so i would be worried about using waste water as input to a 2nd unit.

Do you have one membrane housing or 2? Biggest I see is a 200gpd membrane that will fit the standard housing.
If you are going to replace the membrane go with the biggest output you can.
These are on sale.. 96-98% rejection. I prefer 98% or higher but this would be an inexpensive way to go bigger..

I have two - it is a brs 200 gpd ro unit. The unknown to me is the standard dow membrane is 1.8 inches and that is two inches so not 100% sure it would fit the brs system.
