Beautiful tank bro and nice sump!
Thanks! The rest of my PVC parts should arrive this weekend so I can finally start dry-fitting to mock up a couple of design ideas before finalizing the plan.

Just an FYI - but you might want to test those float valves. The ones on my sump (same as yours) never got terminated/wired onto the controller board - on top of that, I had a bad control board that needed to be replaced.

Thanks. Yes, I intend to test all the electronics before I install the plumbing.

OK, now I can get started on the plumbing. I ordered a few extra fittings so I can experiment with different manifold designs to optimize the space under the cabinet and for easier maintenance. My old design didn’t leave enough room between the reactors and the skimmer, so the skimmer blocked the sock trays from opening without tilting the skimmer out of the way. I won’t have socks now with the new roller mat, but I still want more working room.

Some critical components arrived today. These are the Red Sea plumbing fittings and metric to 1” PVC adapters. I’m glad I was still able to find these because the newer Red Sea parts are glued so they can’t be unscrewed.

@SuncrestReef so Red Sea will stop making part # 42221 or at least stop making them so the barbed part can be screwed off? Where did you get your pars? I bought this part from Fish Tanks Direct in the past. I hope they still carry the old ones. I should get one or two extras just in case for the future if I need to redo any plumbing.

I got them from MarineAndReef.com:

@SuncrestReef thanks! And how about the metric conversion piece, the one between the Red Sea part and the elbow? Where did you get that one?

Ah, yes...this part is critical to the project. I got it from FlexPVC.com, and it's part #417-6127, 1” spg x 25mm JIS or 1” spg x 32mm DIN adapter

Don't be put off by their 1990's era website. The parts arrived quickly and fit correctly.

I think this design will work. There will be a 2nd reactor behind this one, but it's currently in use in my active sump, and the UV will attach to the two valves at the upper left.

(the long pipe across the top is just acting as a temporary support brace to suspend the plumbing)

Great setup on the new manifold @SuncrestReef and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it comes along installing the middle support brace! That's the biggest complaint I have with the XL 425 is really space underneath and the limits of their stock sump - though I'm glad I was able to get my roller mat installed by removing the filter socks/media baskets. Seems like you're taking a similar approach with the new sump and hoping this gives you some nutrient "insurance" for the rebuild!

How did you glue RSR Part #R42221 to the adapter? primer and cement? I ordered the same parts and have them ready just not sure if you used the the PVC cement. It's a snug fit by itself without any cement.

Yes, it must be glued with primer and cement otherwise it will leak even if it seems snug.

More parts arrived today. Now I’m just waiting on the orange PVC to arrive, then I can get to work building the new manifold.

I see I am not the only one going crazy with flow sensors, LOL!!!
