Sunlight supply reef optix 250 w MH distance from water?

MH distance from water?

I have a Sunlight supply reef optix 250 w MH reflector that is currently 6 inches off the water, and I have a few corals that have light colors. Could this be because the light is too close to the water. water chem is good and this is not a recent change. I am just worried about the light being to close and if I would benefit from raising it?

How close do you hang yours?

6 inches is kind of close but honestly it depends on how far the coral are from the bulbs. How far below the surface of the water are the coral and what type are they, sps,lps? light colors are usually a sign of bleaching or coral being starved.

I have mine hanging at 10" Everything seems to be doing ok in my tank.

Its only the sps at the top of my tank that have the lighter colors, all the rest of SPS and LPS look great. Top of tank sps are about 7 inches under the surface. Thanks

oh and I have tons of flow 60 gallon cube with 2 large koralias and a mag 9.
