Hey guys, I have made my first section of an Aquascape for my tank. I used the super thick gel to get the initial bond let it dry for 24 hours then went over the thin areas and built them up with either sand and thin or baking soda and thin if it wouldn’t be visible. My question is does anyone have any real world experience of using this to bond and having it sit in the saltwater or am I bound to have this fall apart? It seems incredibly strong but I’m just not sure yet. Going to start it cycling tonight.

It will fall apart eventually. It seems to get brittle over time. Actually one of the remedies to get superglue off your hands is salt.

Since I have some insightful folks following this thread. I have another question on the same topic. Most of the rock I used I was cured in a bleach/h20 bath and then sun dried and soaked in water then dried. I am not at all worried about the biological impact because I have a lot of live rock and the stuff I move to make room for this structure I will place in my sump. How long should I leave this soak in saltwater before I can add it to my aquarium without any major implications? Obviously it’s exciting when you want to add a new structure lol

Thank you for the very insightful reply! I will heed the warning and be sure to brace it up with cement. I plan on keeping my aqua scape for years to come and don’t want it to fall apart one day with some nice colonies on it.

Good choice imo.better to be little bit more careful for just little bit more money as got stated above some reefers would be ok as dont have tanks running long before re- modelling aquascapes or tank upgrades or the other kind reefer which i think fall into that category of wanting my tank running for quite some years before re- aquascaping or tank upgrade ( but we shall see ) he he

Excellent real world example Tamberav of how superglue just cant handle our Saltwater Tanks, that technique literally reacts and breaks it down within minutes

So far I’m happy with how it turned out!

Looking good and got alot of different heights for placement of different corals.
Like the rock like a merandaring mountain road ^_^
