I was lucky and found this sweeeeet brand new ELOS Diamond Series 120XL on Craigslist back in June 2022. Too many tanks in my garage. Anyone else into cycling?

Building the stand. Those 3 tanks will be transferred into the ELOS.

Stand complete! I believe it's made of MDF, but seems different and much thicker than other MDF stands I've owned. Not a fan of the open bottom, but it's suppose to help reduce vibration from the return pump.

One last check before bringing it into the house. Don't mind the old 26yr old slow Toyota in the background ;)

Made it onto the stand safely! This tank was very bottom heavy since it has double panels of glass for the bottom.

Black circles are to hold the double panel of glass bottom.

Custom ClearView Pisces EXO lid arrived, fitment was just so so. The tabs were cut too small so unless it was super carefully placed on top it would fall into the tank.

I was able to hang the EcoTech Marine Multi-Light RMS Track 30.5" with XR717 RMS Hanging Kit last night. It was my first time hanging a rail from the ceiling. Much easier than I thought.

Added some Harbor Freight Anti-fatigue foam mats to the bottom and 42" dog crate plastic pan to catch any water to protect my floor. Also test fitting the ReefMat 1200.

All done. Very easy with the Red Sea tool kit.

So glad the plumbing was simple to set up. I reduced the 1 1/4” down to 1” so the Spears gate valve would be less expensive and so my ReefMat 1200 tubing would fit.

Started to mount the Radions to the 40.5" RMS track.

I wanted to add two Kessil 360X as supplemental lighting and to add shimmer so I had to figure out a way to mount it to the RMS track. Ended up using some M5 screws, bolts and washers from Lowe's.
7E26D399-CB44-47A3-BFB0-1502593D1527.jpeg

Used this metal piece from RMS mounts to sit in the channel.

Finished Kessil mount. Just enough clearance for the knobs and wifi dongle.

Final lighting configuration. 2x Radion XR30 G5 Blue 1x Radion XR30 G5 Pro (need to trade this with someone for a Blue in case anyone is interested) and 2x Kessil A360X.

Still need to clean up the wires.

Came home from a 16 day vacation and surprisingly nothing was dead. Corals actually look healthy. Torch tentacles are long and flesh looks good.

Couple things I did before I left:
1. 20% water change.
2. Set up the Boxtech automatic fish feeder from Amazon.
3. Made sure skimmer and UV was working properly.
4. Most importantly made sure my Tunze ATO with 35g reservoir was working properly. Looks like 20g of water was used so luckily I still had 15g of water left.
5. My Reefmat 1200 fleece did run out at day 13 and I was notified by the Reef Beat app which I knew was going to happen since I had an estimated 13 days left on the roll.
6. I also installed a Arlo security camera pointed at my sump so I could periodically check to see if anything was off.

Time to scrape the algae film off the glass and do another 20% water change.

Made a quick video last night while I was doing a water change. I find that it's the best time if you want to get a closer shot of your corals since the water level is lower. The bigger anemone is a CSB and the smaller anemone is a Chicago. They have been in my tank since April, but have been in a friends tank for years with no chemical warfare :)

I always loved the look and dimensions of the Elos 120XL.
This gives the best viewing and tank design option in my opinion.
How did all fish got along now that they are all in the same tank?
Wrasse, tangs, hawkfish,...

Tang gang is doing great! I recently added my dream tang, a Zebra tang! Will probably be my last addition to this tank. The trio of Golden hawkfishes are doing great. Seems like 2 of them have paired off and usually hang around each other and doing the courting dance. I took out all of the wrasses except the cleaner wrasses since the hawkfishes would chase them around and try to eat them. lol

Quick update, I had the opportunity to add my dream tang to the gang. Zebra Tang! Only took 2 weeks in an acclimation box to lessen the aggression. Released it at night with the lights off and used a BIG mirror to distract the other tangs. Kept nori available 24/7. Achilles tang was the only one that tried to chase it, but by morning the next day everyone was getting along.

Looking sweet.
How do you like the drain and return for this Elos Quiet Drain system?
I see that they patented this design and the return has a top and bottom connection at the overflow. Do you use both?

Not much has changed with my tank. Caught the sun reflecting off my neighbor’s window and it hit my tank just right for a natural shimmer.

The Quiet Drain system is great. It takes in a lot of water volume. The return is very strong as well. I only use the top return. Very quiet and compact design. My only complaint would be the weirs are narrow so the film on the surface water can build up if you don’t have a lower head pointed at the surface.
