Nice target mandarin! And interesting about Dave. Does he have the appendages in the front for filter feeding like mine?

I have something like this inside my live rock. Probably 7-8. They never come out see the appendages like this photo.

Nope. Looks like a sea cucumber or slug. However, look what my camera caught while just trying to get a close up pic of him for you! I've never seen him do this. You can see some "feelers" or something going thru the sand but oh so slowly. I have not seen him go into the sand, not once so he has to be filtering? Likes to go up on the back wall also. Dave is a bizzare creature!

Yours looks cool!

Update:
Got my replacement trident and installed it last night. A bit confusing as there was a new tile but I think it went in and just changed my current one so I removed the other tile. Right now it is calibrated to their liquid. All of a sudden, my numbers were very low when I tested with hanna and salifert. I let it calibrate to their bottle. Tested tonight.

CA Hanna 351 trident 322
Mg Hanna 1350 1462
ALK 8 8.52
NO3 18.8
PO 4 .03

I'll see how things go. Will most likely calibrate to my tank. I seem to be dosing quite a bit. Upped ca today
ca 69+5
mg 24
alk 68
Nopox up to 12
Not sure if those numbers are in line with my tank size and corals I have.

Also dosing 1.5-2 nyos zero and bio and 40 mb 7 or clean every other day or so. And 8-12 oz phyto nightly

A few of the new acros that I thought were going to make it might not. A couple I've listed as gone. Red Robin Stag, Purple Dragon Eyes

Strawberry shortcake losing some of the color it was regaining. Not giving up.
darth maul porite doesn't have polyps out but still nice red in coloring.

Happy that my tyree pinky the teddy bear has recovered
vivid's rainbow has color at base and RR starfire looks to be recovering.
Oregon blue tort and Pantera rose tenius, cyphastrea chaos all look good.

Will wait a while and try some new acros.

Losing some of my bird's nest. Prob. the calcium dip.

Ruby Head Dragonet and red Dragonet doing well. Haven't seen 4 wheel drive goby in a few days. Stirred up sand on half of tank yesterday so probably hiding. 2 new anthias a joy. Need more....

Debating my next order from LA (gift certificate). Looking at the sleeper blue dot sand sifter. Hoping it doesn't make a mess but I need more sand cleaners. Maybe a couple more anthias.
Think that's it for now.

Back from being gone for 4 days to visit grandboys. Tank survived lol's. Hubby was home to do minimums and I have apps and apex to keep an eye on things. Biggest issue lately has been my numbers and getting my calcium back up. Gave it a boost with some extra calcium chloride dry that I dissolved and added before I left. Have upped my dosing on all:
Ca 105 --cal still low
Alk 75 -- alk is good now
Mg 55 -- still low

NO3 13 and po4 .09. So good there

Today's test results.
Ca 384 Trident, 402 hanna, 350 Salifert so going with the 350-380 range
alk 8.76 tri, 8.8 hanna close enough! Will keep here
Mg 1372 trident, 1380 sal, 1500 hanna. Going with 1380ish.

I'm not sure why hanna ca and mg tend to test high, though this time hanna ca isn't off too bad. The mg was and I didn't feel like redoing the test. Drives me nuts and this is the new test kit to replace the really bad one.

Will resume all my normal dosing. Gave hubby a break while I was gone!

Other than that, all looks good. Losing a few corals from the ca dropping. Including my plate which is sad. Will boost ca a bit more. Need it to hit over 400. Will do the blue light after I turn office lights off.

Some firsts!
First time in the year tank has been running that I've gone 15 days without testing (except for trident)! Yikes. Was sweating the results. Just did alk/no3 and po4. Not too bad but needs attention

no3 1.5 Time to up the feedings. Tank hasn't been feed as heavily
PO4 .15 A bit high. Will add phosguard back in if still over .1 in a day or 2
alk 8.6 which is good and close to what trident says.

Will do ca and mg this week on wed or thur (work split shifts m and t). Trident says 443 and 1447

So things look nice and stable. Need to do a sand stir/blast--half the tank. And deal with 2 aiptasias that I spotted. Went to deal with 1 in the sump and discovered the wall was covered with them. Used half the bottle of aiptasia X! Ordered some super long needles from amazon to reach to the bottom. The syringe that comes with the aipx isn't long enough for my short arms. These new syringes hold a lot more and are about 9-12" long or so.

ordered a new batch of pods. Last batch lasted from May. Dimmer went out so no light. Then has full light. Not sure if that is what killed my culture or if it was just time. I was impressed with poseidan though. They sent me a new dimmer and included some supplies for free. And fast. Hubby did manage to replace the burned out components in the old dimmer so I have a spare.

Have 1 anthia with pop eye or something. Everyone else looks good. Need to place an order from LA for thur delivery so I can use my gift card.

Retail gearing up for xmas. Going to be getting pretty busy and more hours. Both good and bad, right? Good for fish money lol's.

Going to order 2 new heaters. Both of mine are now a year and I want to get 2 the same with the helios controller and use the apex.

Okay, just a quickie update!

Not much to add so far this week. Friday I have some fish being delivered. Used my 100gc from r2r. 2 blue spot sleeper gobies. Hope they are not mess makers but I want clean sand lol's. Tank design/rocks/corals and size makes vacuuming nearly impossible for me. Have tried the following:
2 diamond gobies
1 4 wheel drive goby (not sure what happened to him)
2 court jester gobies

All died or disappeared.

Also have 4 blue damsels and a tail spot coming for the 45 gal and a betta for the grandkids fresh water (40g)

Retail is picking up and so are my hours! And that means less tank time. Ugh. I need some yearly maintenance done.

Ordered a set of helio heaters and controller. I don't like one of my heaters--a 300 w with its own controller and the other, a 500 w is also a year old and has no controller except apex. So for redundance I will have 2 with 1 controller plus the apex. I'll leave the other one in for emergency, set to come on if tank gets really cool.

Need to do tank tests this week. Trying to wean myself from doing them every couple days lol's but am seeing the return of some algae so will be sure I have reef flux on hand before it gets too big.

Got my helio heaters and controller. Now to find time to add them, remove 1 heater and reset the apex for the emergency heater I'll leave in

Won the inkbird wireless controller giveaway so will have a spare for one of my other tanks. Way cool.

Fingers crossed that the fish arriving tomorrow arrive in good health!

Should have stirred/blasted the sand bed today but too tired after work. With new fish arriving, prob. should not do it for a few days. Maybe I'll do just a bit tonight and some tomorrow early

Big UGH and big disappointment. The blue dot sleeper gobies, from LA, shipping from WI arrived DOA. Bag cold. No heat packs. No real insulation except the foil bag. Tried floating in warm water a couple hours as they asked. Nope. Dead Dead Dead.

They are reshipping them Monday from Calif. Of all the fish I ordered, those were the 2 I really wanted and needed for my tank. The 4 blue damsels and tail spot blenny, from Ca, arrived safely. Haven't seen the blenny but imagine he's hiding.

Moved over a rocks of palys--mohawk--that are trying to spead. A few on the back wall. Haven't decided if I'll leave them there or not. Also a frag of blue monti digitatia that is looking good and a frag of deep water acro. Another "piece" of the blue monti is looking super nice so will find a place for it in this tank. Have some zoas that I'm trying to grow onto a rubble rock to move out.

Tests today show no3 0 and po4 0 Need to feed more!! Was going to remove sponge and replace with a new one but decided not to.

The algae starting up must be consuming my nutrients. It's not much though! Will also cut chaeto in half.

Life is crazy right now. Tank suffers a bit! Xmas and retail = a tired reefer lol's. Here is a quick update (typed before I head to work way too early...)

After 3 tries to get 2 blue dot sleeper gobies, finally got 2 live. Barely. Packaging better but heat pad cool. 1 goby has been out, the other not seen since it dived into the barber goby/pistol cave. Did not see the 1 goby at all yesterday. Hope it is in there somewhere. Did see it sifting sand the day before. Seem to have a hard time keep sand sifters.

Need to do another calibration of trident esp cal.
Salifert 450 and hanna over 500 and trident 346 I'm going with salifert as the closest. Hanna is always super high

Got in more reef flux. No3 zero, po4 zero. Means I do have them but the algae is consuming so not dosing neophos yet. Not sure why I keep having algae issues. Numbers are usually pretty good. So will retreat. Before it gets worse. There is a thread on here where some pple use maintenance doses of RF. Might try to find that.

Have aiptasia in sump and found another in tank. Need to kill. Picked up some super long needles and big syringes

Corals look amazing and some amazing growth! Need to stir sand bed. Didn't want to do much with the new gobies.

Have 3 days off in a row next week so will devote a day to the tank and some updated pics. On Tue I get in 3 torches from Pacific east. Have a place near the frog spawn for them. And that will be all I add for a month or 2 as it will be too cold to order online or shipping. Do want to get more acros from a reefer here. The ones that survived my tank are awesome.

Okay, off to get ready for another crazy day as a cashier...

Got in 3 torch corals today from pacific east aquaculture and wow, I am impressed. This was a 3 pack torch selection for 199.00. I expected 3 1 head torches. Instead I got (from looking at their pics online):
7-9 heads Flowing Green
3 heads Haunted Halloween
2 heads Lost Soul
This is from their website-the pack I ordered

So happy I found torches for my eup. garden. Next 1 or 2 hammers to go next to frogspawn.

My galexia might know there are 3 torches in tank. Never seen its stingers out in force or so long!! Hard to see but they are out! I can move this guy if needed! I moved out a rock of palys as they moved onto the back glass so I could mount onto bigger rock and let it keep palys in check!

Prob. won't add much unless I go to a lfs as too iffy for shipping. I am seeing 1 out of 2 blue dot sleeper gobies now.

Need to get yearly maintenance done after xmas. Need to take several days off work in case of problems!! Tomorrow will replace flipper blade and get glass cleaned. Raked some sand today. Might do a bit more tomorrow. And test the tank. Apex numbers not right but are steady but will retest to be sure they are in range.

can't resist 3 more pics of the torches. So thrilled that they are coming out. And super thrilled with the quality and size of the frags for the price! Can't wait to see them progress tomorrow . Excuse lack of color. Dark tank with flashlight

couple more pics. Torches today and both dragonets were front and center so snapped shots of them. They were so tiny when I put them in, esp. the ruby. I think they've doubled in size.

Nap time. Will test later

Nice! For whatever reason R2R stopped notifying me of updates to your build (had to unwatch/watch to get it working again).
I've had that happen both to me here and for others. I need to go do some checking on threads I follow. Like yours lol's
