swc 300 overkill on a 150 tank with 75sump?

title says it all, i found a swc300 skimmer for sale and want to know if its a bad idea to overkill to put it on a 150gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump. its rated at 350 on the heaviest bio load so 300-500gallon rated skimmer.any info would help

it should be just fine i run a atb 1050 rated for the same ratings on a 240gal system at running volume... i think you would be really where you need to be and could have a nice big bio load imho...

Actually there is... A over sized skimmer will Perform poorly on a under sized tank fwiw... We had a great discussion on this here on r2r let me find it...

My personal experience with the swc 300 is that it is way over rated by the manufacturer. I ran one on a 250 gal system for over a year and finally gave up on it and bought something else. I personally feel the bubble size and the skimmer neck are too large on this skimmer...look for a better unit
