title says it all, i found a swc300 skimmer for sale and want to know if its a bad idea to overkill to put it on a 150gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump. its rated at 350 on the heaviest bio load so 300-500gallon rated skimmer.any info would help

it should be just fine i run a atb 1050 rated for the same ratings on a 240gal system at running volume... i think you would be really where you need to be and could have a nice big bio load imho...;)

No such thing as Overkill! Do it! Unless your electric bill doesn't justify the pumps.

overkill on skimming is better than underskimming! Your tank will thank you for the clean water

My personal experience with the swc 300 is that it is way over rated by the manufacturer. I ran one on a 250 gal system for over a year and finally gave up on it and bought something else. I personally feel the bubble size and the skimmer neck are too large on this skimmer...look for a better unit
