Hey everyone! Wife and I are doing some slimming down on our tanks. With a toddler and busy work schedule, tank maintenance is becoming increasingly harder to do.

We've got 5 tanks currently (75 and 40 reefs, 20 qt/holding salt, and a 10g and 125 fresh.

We're planning on keeping just the 75 and 125. We want to make the 125 fresh our reef tank, and the 75 reef our fresh tank.

I should be able to use most of the equipment from the 75 on the 125, plus adding a few things.

We have a lot of rock in the 75, but fear with designing a new scape and all outside of the tank before officially putting it in, we'll likely kill it. I think we'll probably go with mostly all ne rock, and keep some of the established alive for helping cycle the new setup.

As for fish and corals, we'll keep most of them in the 75 and 40s until the 125 is ready.

We'll just need to clean the 75 very well before adding fresh I'm assuming? My good friend at our lfs is likely going to keep my fish and plants I plan on keeping at the store until we're ready to get the fresh set back up.

Priority is the salt tank and making sure we keep everything alive.

Any advice on getting this going in the next few weeks? Thanks!

Get the new tank ready (salt) and move all the stuff in on one day. If you want - add some Fritz 9000.

We have 3 of the new Current USA R24 high output leds on the 75. Would 3 be enough for the 125, or should we add 1 more from our 40? We have 2 on that tank.

I'm also fairly sure this isn't possible, but we have a pair of clowns we absolutely love in both tanks. Both are a bonded pair.

There's no way, even swapping entire tanks, that we could introduce all 4 together in the 125. Eventually they will fight to the death I'm guessing? I wanted to keep them both, but it's likely not going to be possible.

As to the clowns - its a risk for sure. Depending on the number of hiding places, if they have their own anemone, etc they might be fine. If they are all introduced at the same time to the new environment - that may also help. Are they the same species?

I had 3 skunk clowns that hung out in a huge carpet anemone - 2 of them would lay eggs. On the other side of the tank - a pair of percale clowns woudl spawn quite often

Nice - one way to 'try it' would be with an acclimation box. They may very well do just fine with a completely new environment.
