Hello:

I have a Tomini Tang that I had in a QT tank for 5 weeks. I was not actively treating just observing. He had one spot above his eye. I put him in DT yesterday and immediately saw a few more spots on him. I am guessing the are flukes or HLLE. Any ideas? Here are two photos:

Seeking more info and photos under white light. This is a good sticky post on what people may need to better help you and tang:

Thanks. I have one good photo under white light:

Here is a YouTube video:

Additional information:
The QT was 20 gallons and the Tang was in it for 5 weeks. The QT is bare bottom with 2 PVC pipe fittings, heaters, and a Marineland hang on filter with Rite B cartridge.

I put the fish in my DT yesterday (9/25) and his spots really appeared. I was hoping they are stress spots, but they don't seem better 24 hours later. I actually think they are looking a little worse.

The parameters of my DT are:
Nitrate = 2ppm
PO4 = 0.3 ppm
Alk 8.7 meq/l

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Also the Tang is eating well and popping brown rice size pellets. I have never seen pellet poop from fish, but maybe it's a Tang thing? I have not owned a Tang in over 10 years.

Kali, they look a little hallowed out to me, but it's really hard for me to tell. I think the QT had some stray voltage because I had a heater that had moisture in it when I took down the QT. I should test the heater in some water to see?

The good news is the Tang appears to be doing well and the spots have not changed for the better or worse since it was placed in my DT.

Thanks.
