I’m intrigued you say that as I have never had my wrasses out right beat up a newcomer to the tank. Skittishness depends on species, most being much more boisterous and out. Spastic behaviour also depends on species but also tank size, if it’s too small then you will see that behaviour.

Definitely agree it’s all on personal taste, I’ve only ever really enjoyed the achilles outside of Ctenochaetus but again, it’s an Ich magnet and aggressive.
I’ve had a wrasse bully every fish I added after it until I got rid of the wrasse

What species was it?
Some are more aggressive than others. Bodianus is one of the aggressive genera.

...but they're small and add less color because they're small. Also, because they're not so big and less than large and kind of not very big, sort of small. Did I mention they're small? This is a true saying...
IDK what wrasses your looking at but my LFS has a melanarus that would dwarf most tangs. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

This is really just a matter of personal taste, right? Personally, I love Tangs, but ALSO love my angels, wrasses, blennies, etc. They all have their pros and cons, it’s just a personal decision on which things we individually place more emphasis on in our own tanks. To me, that’s the thing I love about seeing other peoples tanks, the choices that they’ve made that differ than mine to get a unique experience.

I adore the Achilles, it’s one of the only tangs I like outside of Ctenochaetus. But I also see… ich magnets all around
Whereas my wrasses don’t really get many parasites and my foxface is almost immune to parasites.

Only are Ich magnets if you never qurantined them.

QT doesn’t make a fish immune to disease. Ich can remain dormant for several days before starving meaning it can come on rocks, coral frags and even the sand.

That's why you qurantine fish, corals, and inverts and new live rock to make sure your tank is ich free and you can keep any tangs you want without ever worrying about ich appearing.

If you qurantine thoroughly and correctly all of your fish, corals, inverts, live rock... you can achieve an ich free tank just like me. Trust the process.
Even then it could still get past and into your tank from out of nowhere. I personally believe nobody has an ich free tank and they just have an extremely healthy tank.

Disagree. I knew I had to do it so I can keep the Achilles, Powder Blue, and Hippo tangs, etc.. the Achilles chases the powder blue almost everyday. You'd think that stress would bring out any ich. Nope. I followed Humblefish's qurantine processes and it has all worked out. Almost 3 years now never seen ich.

3 years isn’t really a big thing, I’d agree if it was 20+ years of no ich but 3 years is still a new tank IMHO.

Did not quarantine my hyppo Tang, did not get ich....Got him/her about 30 month ago, along with my sixline wrasse. Hopefully it stays that way.
