Finally upgraded my biocube into a 90 gallon. Using Orphek Atlantik v4 lights (great BRS Black Friday deal). Bought the tank, stand, and most equipment used. Tossed the stand and built a new one. Still working on finishing the canopy. But otherwise, tank is up, transferred, and running!

Very nice work on the tank stand. Your biocube was beautiful. Amazing looking corals. Your 90 is off to a great start. Wish my 90 looked half that good.

Tank update after 2 months. I’ve added some more corals from a couple great sales (Aqua SD and a WWC subscription box).

The hood has been added (although there are some more finishing pieces I need to put on to make it look nicer). It’s been so nice keeping the light from lighting up my whole hallway.

Also added some new fish in the mean time: purple tang, purple fire fish, McCoskers wrasse, and long nose hawk fish. Thinking of maybe one more fish and then that will be it for the fish.

Hoping to add some more rocks to get all the corals mounted. I have some used live rock sitting in vinegar as we speak and will rinse tomorrow and start curing. But also thinking of just buying some from my LFS and selling what I have.

Lastly, I have an order of Chaeto on the way so will be setting up my refugium here pretty quickly.

Thanks for reading!

Newest update:

added a refugium and seeded with pods.
One of my wave pumps went out on me so I upgraded to an Icecap Gyre 3k (super powerful). Water movement looks great now.

Newest update. Had a scare about 6 weeks ago. Lost some sps after trying to get rid of the flatworm infestation that I had (never doing that again!). Luckily we are back on the upswing and everyone is looking happy again

Newest update. Added a blue plus bar from orphek! Love it so far, coral color looks like it’s coming along pretty well!

Rearranged some things and got a couple new pieces from Lucky Corals. Love the new torch from them. Mushrooms are finally starting to do well in the tank

2 years in the new tank update.

the tank is finally starting to look more full with bigger corals. I can’t wait until my acan rock grows in more! Have had some struggles with my euphyllia, think it might have been from lack of flow. I hope I got that figured out.

I had the par checked on my tank and mapped out. Not too sure about how I feel yet. Might need to add another Orphek, although I’ve had quite a bit of problems with them lately. Everything seems to be growing well, trying to decide if I should chase after a higher par on the top....

lights are mounted 13” above the water

Picked up some more rock this weekend, planning to make a higher rock structure this week. Guess I didn’t realize that I was really only using half of the tank . That should help with getting another option for some higher par.

Well, I decided to finally get the tank that I have been looking at for awhile now. The Waterbox 130.4. It is going to be similar in size to my current tank. I ordered the new tank last week and just got notification that it has been shipped. The transfer is going to be a long day, as the Waterbox is going to go in the space that the current tank is in. I have been working on a plan for how the transfer is going to go. This is what I have so far.

New tank comes, I will get the stand set up with the sump all plumbed and ready. Have about 50 gallons of fresh salt water mixed and matched with current water. Then empty out the sump area of the current tank, ATO, fans, refugium, skimmer, 2/3 of my wave pumps. Will put the skimmer and pumps through a wash overnight. Next morning I will drain the sump and remove it from the stand (stand should be empty at this point). Then take all corals out that are not grown onto rocks and put into egg crates in big tubs with a heater with tank water and add some flow. Rocks next, put into tubs with heaters and tank water. Hopefully catch all fish without too much trouble (put them in buckets with heaters). Drain the rest of the water from the display into a tote and move the tank away from the wall.

Put new stand in position, put tank on top, add rocks to new tank, then add new live sand. Add old tank water from tote, start adding corals to the tank and add water from the bins that the corals were in. Top off tank with fresh saltwater. Add wave pumps. Add fish last. I will probably put a diy cover over the top so that fish can't jump until I figure out which custom cover I am going to purchase. After all live critters are in the tank I can get the sump adjusted and add the lights.

I am hoping that this goes smoothly and that everyone does well once in the new tank. The only new things that I am adding is going to be the new live sand. I know that I could take the old sand out and rinse it, however I have done a terrible job keeping up with the sand in the current tank and don't think I will have enough time to get a good rinse. Seems like less of a risk to spend a little extra money and just buy new sand.

Nice build! Excellent to see the progress. Love the stand/canopy. And amazing corals. Great job upgrading from the cube!
And now it’s another upgrade!? You got the bug for sure, HA! Any updates? How’s the transfer going?

Thanks! I am only getting a new tank because I need to get to the floor under the current tank and figured, I might as well if I have to move the tank haha! It is going to be a slight upgrade in size but a huge upgrade in the type of tank. I had wanted either a waterbox or red sea reefer when I upgraded from the biocube but wanted to make sure I knew I could do it before i spent money on a tank like this.

Tank comes tomorrow! It got stuck in that terrible winter storm last week and was delayed getting out here to CA. Hoping to get prepped on Friday and then do the transfer on Saturday. Fingers crossed for a smooth transfer!

All moved over. Everything made it and is looking ok. It took about 4 hours to do the transfer. Only problem is my Orphek Atlantik needs longer screws to use with the bracket so I’m just using my OR3 bar for now.
