Hey everyone - my new tank is about give me a heartattack. I leveled it out, filled it up, found the water line was off, drained it, releveled it, now the water lines match...but the lid won't fit flush anymore which says to me there is a new problem...but I can't figure out what it could be? Also the middle of the tank seems to have some bowing to it...is this normal with a standard 30 gallon Marineland aquarium? Please help if you can...I'm really upset with how this is turning out and not sure how to fix it?

On the ends of the tank, the glass sits snug against the frame...in the middle of the tank there is space between the glass and frame...on both the front and back sides. Is this normal and I'm just being paranoid?

Standard rectangle 30 gallon tank.

So, take a breath. I think you are ok. You have a Marineland 30 gallon glass with the glass top and you put the plastic extender piece on the glass top yes? Can you take a pic of the entire tank and top of tank with just white light in please

Have you had a chance to check the lid spacing at the plastic connections. AKA, has the glass moved where it connects within the plastic piece

Where the glass meets the plastic connections has not changed. It's a brand new lid...I just took it out of the box today and it still looks exactly like it came out of the box.

But the glass canopy now has to sit in at an angle to be flat inside of the plastic frame... and it feels really tight / snug (which I know it shouldn't). Also one of the glass corners is rubbing the plastic every time I open the lid.

You should be able to check bow with a tape measure and squareness with well a square. My display tanks have always been acrylic but I would agree, the glass tanks can be off some. With that said, a bow would concern me, if you have one.

I did some online research on Google after I made this thread...it seems the bowing is commonplace with this tank size and unless it's excessive (1/2" +) it isn't really a big deal. There were quite a few places that mentioned it so I'm very relieved.

Looking at the pictures, you have the cords coming out from under it, probably why you are having issues with the lid not fitting right.

Cut little notches or like I did, cut the corner out of the plastic part in a small semi circle.
