So I bought a used aquarium cleaned it up built a rock scape. I am new to this size tank so I posted some before and after pictures and if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them! My dad has always wanted a tank and I had tanks before mostly freshwater and a small saltwater. We purchased and installed a 6stage RO/DI filter to get our water.

the tank itself has:

-current loop light

-2x 2100 gph current loop wave maker

-2x 100w heaters (one in the sump and one in the filter intake area)

- UV sterilizer

- protein skimmer (not yet turned on yet LFS said to wait a couple weeks)

- 2x digital thermometers on each end of tank

- air pump with supply in sump

if anyone sees anything we could benefit from or if placement of things could be more beneficial id love any suggestions. The sump has a sock filter thing but I’ve read mixed opinions about using it.

Are you planning on growing coral? If so those lights really aren’t strong enough I have them and I don’t recommend them for anything over 30 gallons. Do you have cheato if not I recommend getting some!! How are you cycling your tank? Looking really good keep up the good work!!!

Awesome job cleaning it up! Looks great. I’m newer to the hobby as well. I see you have some ceramic bio material in the sump. Do some research but I believe the general consensus is they are more trouble than they are worth and can cause an increase in nitrates. I removed mine gradually and added rock rubble in the sump instead

We also have a kessil light. We cycled it for two weeks with something the LFS gave us and then they gave us a clean up crew. Problem is I’ve heard the crabs they gave us (calico) aren’t reef friendly and then today I found out the one is has eggs.
