Anyone able to help ID this and possibly suggest how to deal with it. I had a mature tank for like 4 years and just upgraded to a bigger tank. I used all old rock and a couple new pieces along with all new sand, wondering if this could be part of the problem? Been feeding more but also running a skimmer now.

NO3 ~ 4
PO4 - ~0.07.

There isn't too much other algae, also the snails are taking care of it on the glass but it's outpacing them at the moment. It's slightly stringy with a bubble when it's attached to coral.

I'm guessing my nutrients are just too high?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I would continue manual removal - I would not chase nutrients - your tank looks great. Can you post a front-on version of the tank?

Hey thanks, I appreciate that.

I guessed as much, I'm trying to keep up with the weekly water changes haha.

I haven't had much luck with this, but have you ever found an equilibrium between nutrient import and export to where algae seemingly goes away and your clean up crew pretty much takes care of it?

Not really - I mean - it can be minimized - but I am not aware of anyone never needing to clean glass.

Sorry I wasn't specific but I know glass will always get some algae if your tank is healthy. I was more so thinking the mom green algae on the the sand and rocks.

Yeah, looks like a tiny bit of dinos to me.

But there is so little, I wouldn't freak out about it. Tank looks great overall. If it were me, I just monitor it and let the tank re-establish it's balance on its own. If it did start to spread drastically, maybe hook up a UV for a while.

Your nutrients look great. Not high at all and I would NOT try chasing NO3 or PO4. Would most likely just exacerbate things. The microbiome in your tank probably needs to time to rebalance itself.

Super informative, thanks for this. It's nice to get a second opinion for reassurance.

Hey thank you! Any species you'd recommend? I think I've got mostly trochus and nassarius at the moment. Was looking to add some cerith.

I'm planning to start a build thread just haven't had the time, the tank has only been up since the new year and still ironing things out.
