Tankmates for breeding clownfish pair in a 25 lagoon?

As the title says.. i have pair of clowns that regularly spawn and i raise the fry. Id like to add some movement to the tank, be a fish/goby/invert...but do not want to stress my clowns nor have the eggs get eaten. Its 25 gallon lagoon, well established. Can post pictures later.

hi,not sure ,have to do research,was a goby i was able to keep with breeding seahorses,not sure if will work w eggs though

A small wrasse maybe a possum or sixline , gobies are a good pick . Not so much hawkfish

What are the dimensions of the tank? And does it have enough cover? I know in 20H's, you can keep breeding pairs of clowns with breeding pairs of small calm dottybacks (orchids are a popular choice), OR small goby species (ex. neon gobies).

A pair of banggai cardinalfish would probably work (I'm 85% certain). So would a pistol shrimp/goby pair. I'm not so certain about any hawkfish though

Thanks for the responses! Went to bed after posting..

I have a sixline in another tank, no way would I risk that. I had a longnose hawkfish in mind, maybe I'll get one for the tank with my wrasse.

Seems like we can agree on gobies being a good bet. They used to be housed with a yellow watchman so I'm sure they will welcome another to the tank. Also can 'bully'/ defend the eggs from the goby fairly easily id imagine. Might add a pistol also. I do feed this tank heavily for what its worth.

Now I've never had cardinals, they do better in a pair or trio correct? For a 25 should i go pajama or bangaii?

With banggais, from what I’ve read, you can keep them in male-female pairs, but can also have a system where you have two males and switch them out in order to let them recover between spawnings. You can’t keep 2M:1F in the same space unfortunately.

Ah, I'll have to find a bonded pair then if I go that route. Not sure if I'd want more spawning but if there's not harm done..

Might as well get the pistol-goby duo as well and make it a couples retreat !

LiveAquaria has been selling a large number of BC pairs for the past few months, which is nice.

Are you going to get a pair of pistols and a pair of gobies? Or just a single pistol and single goby?

Cleaner Shrimp have worked great for me, I don’t know how they might react to eggs though.

I'll keep an eye on the DD. I would do a single goby and single shrimp.

I've considered the cleaner, if it seems bad i can again put it in the wrasse tank.

Meant to take pics before lights out but didn't get to it.

Any other online suggestions? Haven't purchased online much but it's tough to get around currently
