Hope it’s not silly, but I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve never heard of NOAE. Is that the company they come from or an actual type of clam?

It's a species of clams, Tridacna noae. They use to be considered Tridacna maxima, recently designated a separate species. Commonly referred to as Teardrops because of their distinctive patterns. Most are a brownish coloration, rarely colored Teardrops are available.

I don't think it is stupid. I was just as ignorant and only found this after doing a search. They are really pretty. In fact I have a order ready to go and was thinking about adding one :) Not sure my better half would approve though although I would save on shipping :D

That has to count for something, right? But we are in a heat wave in California :(
