I just purchased a few smooth skin acros, and I was wondering if I should treat them any different than acros like Pink Lemonade, Millipora, Tenuis, and Tri-Color?

If so how should I treat them?

I run 6 t5s over this tank-4 Blue Plus, 1 Fiji Purple, and 1 Aquablue Special
The tank is 66 gallons.
I perform an approximately 15 gallon waterchange every two weeks, because I am waiting for a skimmer and I am trying to keep the water as clean as possible.

TIA

Ok, that is what i figured. Do they still do best in lot of flow like my other acros do?

I will post pictures in my tank thread once I get them!

Becareful dipping them they are touchy and in my past it seemed like aefw attacked smooth skin acros first so pay attention for any bite marks

Ok, any specific dip I should perform if I see suspicious marks on the acros?

I agree IME they don't like getting pounded with flow and light. I'm referring to the smooth skin acros that have been coming in lately. I use CoralRx. Close and inspection and quarantine if possible.

Ok, I do not have a QT setup. Is there any specific/special way I should acclimate them to the tank?

I am getting them today!

Is it a huge problem if the acros are broken in the bags? I have had corals break in shipping but these are broken in half or worse.

I will contact them now, the thin branched sp. are the ones that broke however the thick branch sp. did perfectly fine in shipping. The broken ones are discolored.

I will post pictures in my tank thread in a few minutes.

Bummer to hear, but **** does happen - we can't deny it. :( Definitely the right move to call them up - and the sooner the better, with pictures ready to send too! More than likely you'll end up satisfied.

Seems likely that you may end up with more corals than you originally planned either way though. :)

Good luck!

Yea it is annoying, but the acros are all showing polyp extension atm so I assume that is a good sign. I just sent the pictures to them as well.

I'm posting the pictures of the acroporas right now!

IME, If they're still exhibiting polyp extension they should be alright. I would contact the vendor though, they shouldn't arrive broken. Sounds like either poor packing or the the delivery service got in a "hurry". Either way, not what you paid to receive.

I have a few smooth skins, a WWC Ice Fire A.echinata and a A.granulosa that I've had for a while. Just received an Aussie A.carolinana and a Red Dragon frag a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to see how these grow out.
