For a display tank, the disco ball effect of radions would drive me crazy having owned Kessils now. Before I owned Kessils I didn't understand why everyone complained about radion disco ball lol.

You should. The Kessil AP700 looks better, performs better, Kessil Logic, WIFI control via phone/tablet app (Radion needs a PC to program), no disco, no hot spots, covers more area, Meanwell power supply/driver (top of the top), and trust me has all the PAR/power you will ever need. I'm not even sure there is a question if it's better than the Radions, because it is in about every category that matters.

So today I replaced the AP700 over this SPS tank with 3 of the A360WE Tuna Blue. I decided to once again do PAR testing using the same spots and method as before. After playing around, I found the best height for me was a mere 8" above the water of the frag tank, as it gave me some nice center spots with much higher PAR for some of my higher demand SPS. Also in playing around, I want to revisit PAR numbers on the AP700 with a lower height as well, as I think the numbers could be even higher if I lowered the fixture, though on a 48" wide tank this might create too much shadowing on the sides.

I will say that I think the 3x A360WE are preferred in this SPS tank, simply because moving from 2 pucks to 3 eliminated even more shadowing than the AP700 did. The light intensity is at 100%.

Results below! I think these numbers are perfect for my SPS frag tank.
    Boom-.jpg

In this pic they are 15" above the water, though now they are at 8" above water.

Do the corals look the same under the 360s vs the ap700?

Exactly the same, minus some shadows because of the extra puck.

My 75g tanks it's two Kessil a160we with the ap700 arms and spectral controller. This is closer to the end of the day when I have more blue stepped in, but man is it gorgeous and hard to beat!! I'm a Kessil koolaide drinker for sure!

If he still doesn't have a new light by the time I replace the 32" SB Reef LED I have, I'll send it to him for cheap if he wants it.

Great looking light is it not. When the G4 came out and still had disco and some hot spot I know that the AP700 is still the king LED fixture. Though the lens on the G4 made huge improvements from the G3

It's an amazing looking light! All of my corals have taken well to it. It's sleek design and mounting look really good on my tank and I'm sure any other tank it's mounted on :) it looked really good over boom corals'a frag tank.

So just another post on Kessil's awesome customer service. I emailed them in regards to the AP700 programming effects. Here is how the emails went.

A suggestion for the app. Instead of only allowing us to program 2 minutes of effects at each point , allow us to program it for specific time frames. For example from 13:30 to 14:00 storm and cloud cover for 15:30 to 18:00...not just two minutes per effect..

    Thank you,
    Zach
