Well that's unfortunate glad the A360s are working out though
Yea, your right. Might have been asking a little much, lol. I didn't know you were covering such length.
How high did you say it's mounted? Because to cover that much it would need to be 14 or even 16" high.
Kessil recommends 15-18" mounting height for 48" coverage.
I tired everything from 14"-20"
My AP700 is sold.
@BoomCorals Do you think your kessils are lacking in anyway "spectrum" for the SPS system? Think they would benefit at all from a t5 supplement? Also, how long of a photo period do you run, settings and ramp up/down? I'm still putting together my main display but for now I'd like to convert one of my lowboy tanks to a SPS growout so that I can start collecting frags now and get some size on them so that when the display is ready to go I'll already have a head start. I've got both an 8 bulb ATI unit and 3 A360's, along with a couple 48" t5 retro kits. I'm leaning towards the 3 360 route since the tank is so shallow and everything will be sitting at the same height, I could easily create a lower par zone on one side by turning down one of the fixtures.
I don't see any reason to supplement the Kessils for me personally. I run the 3x a360we 7 hours a day at 100% intensity right now over my lowboy.
How far apart do you have the 360s mounted? Based on what I've seen, 15" on center looks to be the sweet spot.
Thanks, leave the color knob at 50%? Since the tank is 48" I plan to just divide it evenly and space them all out 12" on center
I prefer the color to be at least 60% visually. I've had it as high as 70% and low as 40% with no noticeable negative effects.
I only have my kessils ramp up to about 35-40% color at peak. I like a little more blue
With Kessil Logic the overall spectral out put doesn't really change at all. You just add some white. BRS video compared the spectrum output of the AP700 to the ATI Blue Plus T5 bulb saying that the spectrum is well suited for coral health.
Personnel I keep my AP700s a little on the blue side for best color and growth but not totally blue.
Kessil says the blue is what the corals need and white is for personnel visual balance.
It actually changes a fair amount.
In the BRS video the changes were apparent but not very drastic, affecting mostly just the visual spectrum rather than the spectrums Corals need.
I firmly believe all color settings are capable of growing corals.
I thought that was Kessils logic?? Only leave appearance up to the user?
Interesting! What do you like about the “Kessil only” look vs Kessil plus T5? More shimmer?
I'm running an Actinic + and Coral + with my A360s and I hate how blue it turned everything. There is still a decent amount of shimmer but I personally don't like it at all. Was much nicer to look at prior to the T5 retrofit.
Edit to add I run 60% color on the Kessils; anything lower is too blue for me.
Seeing any benefit to growth and coloration though?
