Hi reefers!

I’ve been keeping my tank temperature about 26 Celsius or 76.6 Fahrenheit.

The problem is that on a warm day (which will be fine in the winter) the temperature rises to 28 Celsius or 82.4 Fahrenheit.

I’ve left the windows open as much as possible, used a fan, left the lights and lid completely off and it stays up at that temp until late evening. It’s the top floor in my house and always the warmest room.

Is this concerning or ok??
Thank you!!

82 is ok if:
-It rises gradually to this temp
-It is temporary
-There is adequate oxygen delivery in the tank

Can you get an ac for the room? Window unit would work fine for just the summer and take it out in the fall. Or one of those units that sits in the ground with hose attached to the window. That would be too much of a swing for my liking

Ideally a ac for the room .
but if that’s not a possibility fans or even frozen water bottles in the sump .
but …the rapid change in temp is the issue .

ac or move the tank to another room ?

I live in Florida so temp is a big deal .
Also I running a 75 gallon mixed reef.
I keep my tank at 79 degrees .
I run the house ac at 78 during the day and it drops at night to 74 so I run a heater in my sump
temperature swings are not a good thing just like any other parameter in your tank it should be as stable as possible.
I will go along with installing an ac or moving the tank to a cooler room.

that temperature swing is more than i'd be comfortable with, but if you have fish only and its gradual its not as concerning. I would try looking into mini tank fans and or chillers for your tank :) - kali
Thanks, I was considering this but want to maintain the stock lid and light if possible. I’d like a chiller or something but they’re so expensive especially if it’s only a small Fluval Evo

Can’t get AC here. Live in Ireland so not the same in terms of AC availability etc and not very common. I was going to try keep it at 27C (80.6F) but my lfs said I should keep it down to 26C (78.8) first for corals etc.

Considering moving to another room where it’s cooler and in shade mostly. Can’t get AC here and with the stock lid and light which I want to keep, I’m limited in options.

In Ireland so no AC, room moving is an option. It’s full right now but maybe if I can half empty and move on the stand itself .
