Well after many many years and an almost build about 4 years ago i am back at it with my 2nd red sea build.
ever since I was a kid I have been fascinated with seahorses and now it's time to get a dram set up going.

here are the details of the gear:

Tank:

2X AI Blades

filtration:
red sea filter cups with floss changes every 3 days
after 6 to 12 months switch to RS reef mat 500 ( once more reviews come out)

ended up getting the RS reef mat 500

~skimmer
Red sea 600 skimmer or life reef or reef octopus have yet to decide on this one but will be rated for 150 gallon min.

~Rector
mini BRS reactor- for carbon and GFO

~UV

fuge with tunze eco chic fuge light OR 4 cube a day ATS

~ATO
29H tank with smart aqua ATO system

~heating
ranco controller unit with heating unit.

~hospital tanks
10 gal, 18.5 AIO peninsula 16 gal. or two 40be if need be,

tank is officially ordered!

and extra AI prime should be here in a few days.
guess i should start ordering the rest of the gear.

I am really debating the reef mat from the get go or wait a few months till I really need it.

also the skimmer I am leaning towards the reefbreeders coral box D700+ as it rated for 240 gallons and will fit in my skimmer section of the sump. it's is a $100 cheaper the the RS skimmer and have some nice features like the overflow cup sinser to stop the pump if it overflows.

all that said i am also looking at a cpl used life reef skimmers.

If you're planning to get the ReefMat eventually you might as well get it now and configure it from the outset. Good luck with the build!
my thoughts too. I am just concerned about to aspects:
1. its new tech not many long term useres out there besides from RS it self. will the head unit fair well in a SW involvement?

2. will there be a study supply of the fleece? with the supply chain issues I do wonder this.?
hopefully they both are not rel issues but I do pause and think about it. good think with the new g2 if that is the case I guess I could go back to filter floss in cups tho.

Well, fleece rollers have been around for years - so the general technology is proven at this point. As for the specifics about the Red Sea unit, it's too early to tell - but initial reports indicate it's the best roller out there right now. As for the fleece - I'd stock up on a year's supply at the outset and then it won't be an issue.

As soon as it's available I'm getting one and revising my 750 sump to accommodate it.

my thoughts too.
i wanted to buy 4-6 extra rolls with the 500.
if it would out i might add one to my 650P on 2nd thoughts I am having trouble getting my n&P up on that tank as I am way under stocked so never mind. haha

some progress
the Ai prime and mount came in yesterday.

I decided on filtration, I went with the coral box D-700+ rated for 240 gallons. It will still fit in the skimmer section of my sump. it was a hard choice on skimmers. but with the DC controllable pump small foot print and about $100 less that the RS 600 I thought it fit all the boxes.

that gave me more reason to get the reef mat 500. all tho someone suggested the bubble magus roller so I'll have to look in to that one as well.

also ordered the frozen reeficle feeder from smart reef I got the "pro" pack as it comes with 2X silicone trays and 2X thermos also got an extra 10 pack of the of sticks so I will be able to make 18 days of food.

hopefully I can get some photos here soon. but this is going to be a pretty slow build.

Reefing gear is starting to come in.
Figured this thread needs some photos….
Because that’s what your hear for right!

got the skimmer in from Logan at reef breeders. The thing is huge it’s a lot bigger than the reef octo 150 I have on my RS 650p
I think it will pull some great stuff from the SH and help keep it nice and clean.

Progress is slow my project seems to always get out on the back Burner but I got the plumbing installed decided to go with the red Sea G2 red diaphragm downflow valve.
we will see how that works.

as you can see the skimmer is huge for the tank :D barely fits just a few CM to spare!

now to get on the UV plumbing and figure out what power strips I want to use.

just placed a BRS order for the 25W UV pump and plumbing. man all that stuff adds up. but from what I hear UV are really needed on SH tanks. they are very prone to bac, infections.
so hopefully this $600 will be put to good use and make my life easier.
