Any updates? How is the new tank coming along?
Its hard to believe this tank has been running over a year already. It’s had a fair share of ups and downs.....currently it’s somewhere in the middle. Right now most pieces are growing (albeit slowly), but colors in general are far from where they should be. A lot of pale pieces mixed with what I call the “grey tone of death”. I’ve tried increased feeding, added fish, nitrate and phosphate dosing with minimal improvement other than spurring a GHA outbreak.
I’ll try to be more diligent about updates as I have some exciting news on the horizon!
@tgbaby I'm impressed with the corals. Can we get a fish list? Its hard to believe this tank has been running over a year already. @tgbaby thanks for the list. I had to google staghorn damsels, never heard of them. Can we get some pictures of the staghorns!Sure....but I have to admit that I’m not super interested in fish. I’ve been in the hobby for over a decade and my favorites are still damsels! They are mostly jerks but are still pretty and super active.
2 x Red Firefish
3 x Blue Chromis
4 x Staghorn Damsels
2 x Yellow Tail Damsels
@tgbaby wow that is dirty water!! Lots of detritus in the system, even with bare bottom? Was it mostly under the rock? Finally broke down the basement tank after a lot of procrastination.......it was really just an oversized frag tank anyway.
I kept frags of the pieces I wanted to regrow and sold off the rest to local reefers and LFS. I forgot how much fun tearing down an established tank was. I was shocked how much detritus there was even running bare bottom.
@tgbaby where will be the door to the area behind the tank?Construction has finally started. After breaking down the basement tank it was time to finish the all demo so the contractors could start.
Today they finished most of the framing including the area for the NEW tank! I ordered a 72x36x24 tank from Planet Aquarium and extruded aluminum stand from AluFab.
