Some photos of the Blue Caribbean Tang. A relatively obscure surgeonfish that is very difficult to find in the juvenile stage, which is all yellow. As the fish matures, it turns into a bright blue with striping that is remarkably similar to the Scribbled Angelfish. There’s a Florida diver who has a website where he offers 1 to 2 1/2 inch juveniles regularly at the very reasonable price of $35 each. So I grabbed one. Delivery supposed to happen before 12 noon and I can’t sleep.

I was thinking of Romain Lettuce. Would you suggest spinach instead?

If he comes in less than 2 inches, I’ll put some newly hatched brine in the QT and hope that he goes for them. I have a hatch working right now for my coral feeding tomorrow. I’ll probably go to the Publix later on and pick up spinach and romaine. Ironic that the first fish I fed Romain and spinach to was a tiny Scribbled Angelfish.

It’s tiny. Maybe 1-1 1/2 inch. Looks like the size of those captive bred angels. Oh well. Challenge is now to keep it alive. I got some baby live brine cooking. We’ll see how that goes.

OMG. It’s really cute. Already picking at algae.

It took a few hours but it looks like a light went on in the little guy’s head suddenly. and he’s now chasing the newly hatched brine shrimp all over the tank. He’s also aggressively hitting the little rocks with the algae.
Little guy is an eating machine. Next, trick him into taking some Hikari Marine S pellets.

My thing was always raising tiny angels into adults. I’ve had Majestic, Scribbled, Yellow-bellied Regal, Emperor, Blue-faced, Flame, Coral Beauty, and Bicolor angels as tiny and as cute as you can imagine over the years. But I don’t think I’ve ever had a fish as cute as this little Blue Caribbean Tang. Watching him dart around after the baby brine shrimp just makes me smile.

Both are beautiful! I can't get over how tiny that tang is. He sure is stunning and I can't believe he was only $35. Maybe it was a typo on the website and it should've been $350. LOL Congrats!

Success! Both the Gramma and the Tang ate Hikari Marine S pellets today. I was tempted to buy another little Tang and try to pair the two up, but I decided against it. I don’t wanna push my luck.
good choice with not pushing your luck.. if it's not broken, don't fix it! beautiful fish!
