I think anthias are the most consistently beautiful fish group. While there are lots of strikingly pretty angelfishes, there are also quite a few plain and ugly ones.

I had to vote other because there are many beautiful fish, but my favorite one is the juvenile pinnatus batfish.

Happy Wednesday Reef Fam!

Today let's talk about those beautiful little swimmers that make up the elegant movement of our saltwater reef glass boxes of water! Otherwise known as saltwater fish! :p It is said that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" but I think as far as fish go we may be able to come to a consensus or at least a majority vote on this thing! So let's talk about it!

1. What ONE fish do you think is the MOST beautiful fish in the hobby?

2. What "types" of fish do you think are the overall most beautiful fish in the hobby?
(Angels, Wrasse, Gobies, and so on etc?)

Marine Beta. This fish has generated more 'wows' in my past tanks than any other fish.

They also have gentle dispositions and being groupers can be quickly taught to eat from your hand. I know there's also a lot of research into getting them to captive breed.

Dragonets are easily my favorite and now that Biota has been captive breeding and feeding frozen I have no guilt keeping them.

I do love some Scott's Fairy Wrasses as well.

I always have liked Cherry Anthias - Sacura. Big, hardy and colorful!

They can also live from 60 to 80 degrees F.

How do the clown triggers do in a reef tank? How big is your tank? I have a picasso and niger in my 180 gal. My picasso occasionally nibbles a coral but not much.
He likes to nibble on a certain smooth colony I have but it grows right back. The other 5 triggers don't even look at the corals. They are in a 90g that's being replaced by my new180g. Just planning the transfer all out.

I have to go with the green mandarin dragonette

second would be the mantis shrimp

I love wrasses a lot so I’ll have to put them top 3

lastly, the black snowflake clown is gorgeous. I love my baby orcas but those were my first choice.

I voted Angelfish. They are colored beautifully and swim gracefully. Not on the list, and a close 2nd for me, are Triggerfish. Their colors are more subtle but they are beautiful fish.
