New Year, new tank... I finally pulled the IM 25g lagoon out of the garage, let the softie/mushroom tank build finally begin!
Decided on the sandy bottom... better for mushrooms and easier to spot if they detach, future fish will need it as well.
Water is in, taken from the main tank, parameters looking stable. Anyone think I Might get a nitrite or ammonia spike? Gonna let the water cycle for a few weeks until the light comes.
Measured and measured and remeasured the hose length. Cut to perfection no pinching or impact to flow. Need to get this thing moving water!
Water cleared! I knew that cycled rock would come in handy , still working on the scape. Would love some posted inspiration! Would love to get some community feedback!
MP10 is placed in the back to keep detritus from building up in those hard to read places, I’m probably create a rock buffer on the opposite side to reduce the gyre effect if needed.
Special shout out to my buddies @ReeferBlaine and @Mrmiles for helping me come up with the idea to pre-bury tiles (in the yellow) w/rubble attached for future mushroom crawling
Couple of pieces that are potentially early pioneers to settle in the mushdom.
Transfer fish:
Exiled Valentini Puffer Seachicken (SPS/LPS eater)
Watchmen goby
Planned fish:
Molly Miller or Lawnmower Blenny
Sapphire Damsel
Smaller Wrasse (4-8 line wrasse)
Equipment list:
